It would be nice if there was like priority or something:
1) Citizens
2) Essential professionals
3) Genuine refugees
4) Tourists

This is why no other countries in Europe didn’t rely on hotels to the same extent we did.
1. track down all migrants/refugees that are here illegally/undocumented and deport them. Track down all those with current deportation order and deport them. Suspend appeals processes and give no attention to the pathetic excuses over ‘lost’ documentation or whatever. We live in a very connected world.. it’s not hard to track people’s movements in the vast majority of cases.
2. revert to the process regarding refugee applications from before the Ukrainian crisis, except for our *accepted* obligations for Ukrainians. Stop blurring the lines between a refugee and an Asylum seeker.
3. offer financial support to countries in the EU to take refugees that meet our basic requirements for entry, but cannot accommodate ourselves.
4. Use military engineers to fabricate temporary buildings to accommodate our existing refugee/migrant population on a semi-temporary basis until their claims have been properly examined, rejected or approved. Ask for other European nations to provide their own military engineers for the task.. considering the way forward operating bases are created quickly that can adequately house military personnel.
5. Rebuild the construction industry rather than relying on government built and provided housing.
6. then, focus on building apartment complexes in satellite areas around Dublin, Athlone and Galway.. putting in the basic infrastructure properly, and building a series of commuter community areas, within relative close proximity to train lines and the motorway. Build apartment complexes similar to what’s seen in Asia with between 16-20 floors per building.
7. Encourage that Irish people stop their fixation on houses..
Complex situation. All avenues need to be explored. We have a responsibility to accept refugees and do our part in the crisis. We also have a responsibility to our own citizens and addressing their concerns. The divide is not helpful. People who have legitimate concerns and questions are not racists. People who want to increase our amount of refugee intakes are not left wing nuts. This is getting a bit lost in the shit slinging.
Tourists visiting here must be absolutely loaded. Hotel prices are a total rip-off, tried to book a room in a nice clean hotel for one night for my family(2 adults & 1 child) and couldn’t find anything under 200 euro. Now looking at London instead and found a 4 star for two nights for 248 euro and Ryanair flights for 75 return for all of us. Absolutely no value to be found in ireland, whether it be going out for a meal or for a night away.
