Ryan opening the door to a SF/Green + AN Other coalition, it’ll be interesting to see if SF reciprocate by taking a position on the Environment/Climate Change.
Now there is match and a half.
They must be pretty confident that Sinn Fein will get enough seats to pull a government together.
I can confirm that I am not open to voting for a green party candidate.
Doubt the green party will still exist after the next election
This lunatic party will surely cease to exist after the next election.
Their willingness to enter coalition with SF wouldn’t put me off voting for the Greens.
What would, is their performance and particularly that of my local Green TD, Brian Leddin a tool who sought to derail the already neutered regeneration plan for Moyross with his and his party leader’s effort to abandon the northern distributor road in Limerick.
Good. The climate agenda is too important to settle for opposition. The Greens need to be open to working with anyone who has a tangible shot at government.
Interesting but not too surprising. SF being the weakest party on climate they would have to offer up some big concessions to the Greens for that to work though. If SF are short for numbers next time around, even with a very reduced seat count then the Greens could drive a good bargain.
People who hate the green party really don’t seem to understand that not everyone feels the same way as you. If you are someone who wants more action on climate change/more public transportation they really are your only viable option in this country. I’m sure they will lose some seats but they ain’t gonna cease to exists.
Would love a SF/green gov personally.
Roderic O’Gorman and Eamonn Ryan are among the worst TDs in recent memory. Doing untold damage to the country.
See it would be interesting to see the Greens in power with a more left-leaning government than the right wing Neoliberal one they are propping up now who obviously don’t care for the environment (Ireland is one of the most environmentally and ecologically fucked countries in Europe thanks to FG/FF and their ‘leadership’).
Sinn Féin are lacking in their environmental policies imo so the Greens would be a good addition, however, as I’ve already mentioned, the Greens are currently propping up a right wing Neoliberal government that are actively destroying the future for Ireland on multiple levels so should the Greens really be rewarded for their support of FG/FF and their refusal to pull support despite multiple opportunities to do so?
With what fucking TDs?
The greens are about as electable here at this point as King Charles.
The Greens are too small to be picky and their mandate is purely environmental so this isn’t surprising.
If Sinn Fein do this they will lose a lot of support I can’t see it happening. Ryan knows he’s gone and is clutching at straws here trying desperately to start influencing people’s opinions. He has done to much damage to himself and greens with there tax everything until people can’t afford to live attitude.
They can fuck off…
Political whores
Well I’ll be voting for anyone except Greens and SF then
What a spineless, shrew of a man.
Lambs to the slaughter!
They just want to cling on to being in government , no surprise really.
Interesting timing for this to come out a few hours after the report on the Nursing Home scandal.
I dont like the greens, but I recognise the fact that they’ll mostly likely be needed if we want to have a genuinely progressive government in this country. I have the same feeling with labour. Much preferable to sinn fein having to go in with FF.
It would be tough for SF. I think a lot of their policies already would put them at odds with their own re-election if they got in (eg increase on CGT, inheritance tax comes in 35,000 lower) and extra green policies would harm them where their new soft votes are in Connaught-Ulster.
Please god no. Let the greens die the death they deserve.
Guns n Roses!
As if we needed another reason to dislike the Greens
Absolutely should never let the greens back into power, they are the tax party, plain and simple
Matt Carthy won’t like this, didn’t he promise the farmers lobby that the government would be better off without any green party TD’s and SF would roll back any green restrictions put on farmers by the current government. More SF populist nonsense I guess. Tell everyone exactly what they want to hear.
The last GE is the first and last time I’m gonna put anything next to the Green party
The sluts of politics.
Last thing we want is that fucking cabbage carrying on in government
Ffs. I actually don’t care who gets in but christ on a bike the greens need to fuck off
eagerly awaiting the incoming smear campaign against the Greens now
I’m not a big SF fan but I’d like to see them have a go as something different. Things can’t get much worse as is.
That’s the Green party buried so. The typical green voter, I would imagine, is diametrically opposed to sinnfein.
Unsurprising – the Greens are one of the more pragmatic parties and will probably do business with anyone if it means getting some of their agenda through or even just mitigating against the alternative.
Eamon Ryan regularly sleeps at work lads. 😂
BREAKING NEWS: Eamon Ryan confirms GreenParty would sleep their own mothers to be in the next government
You can’t go into government if you have no TDs.
It’s very hard to see the Greens coming back with any.
What’s the Irish for “big fucking shake-up coming to Irish politics, and about time”
Lol, they’ll be wiped out completely next election
Going on past election results, the Greens will probably be decimated in the next General Election. The Irish people have a habit of blaming the minority partner in government for whatever reason.
Hard no, man’s a traitor to the left wing, any party that works with the right wing is no party to be trusted
