A boycott of games in France by the US, Canada and the UK is likely to cause significant problems within the West and that’s why they won’t do it.
I for one am happy the IOC has not succumbed to the same kind of indiscriminate hatred that seems to affect most people here. Russian athletes are young men and women who have as little power to change the course of events as you do. Since when are y’all in favour of collective punishment? Leave that kind of stuff to nations like Israel.
Boycotting would make more sense, is there really any precedent for banning a team from the Olympics ? And it’s not like this is the first war of aggression since the Olympics started.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I say let everyone that qualifies and passes requirements compete. Settle your differences on the field as the original olympics were designed to do. Warring states would set aside their differences every 4 years. I say let them compete, and may the best win.

No one is going to boycott the Olympic Games. Not a single country. There will be a lot of talk if not outright threatening of doing so, but in the end, every single country will participate. Maybe under protest, but they will. The games are too big a deal and too much of a business, sadly.
Let’s say completely white outfit (could be like black too) without ANY symbols, not even for the Russian OC. Same for all the scoresheets, no flags, no symbols, just the name of an athlete and general agreement on how to talk about them by the commentators where no nationality is never mentioned in any way. Let’s keep them as individual athletes without any connection to what’s happening at the moment and not give them any opportunity to promote their country while performing or in interviews if they really want to compete. Heavy fines if they don’t follow the rules.
