That story is getting dodgier and dodgier. They were attacked with bats, now it’s they were shouted at. All very odd. Indo was there around the same time.
Their argument about violence against women is a strawman. Most women are killed by men known to them, be that a spouse, partner, ex partner, family member. 89% of all sexual assaults are perpetrated by somebody known to the victim. In Ireland, especially, it’s the men in their lives that women are at risk from.
Also, to note, since the recording of femicide statistics began, every woman that has been murdered in Ireland has been murdered by a man. It may not be all men, but it’s always a man.
Well, the government got that far-right boogie-man they were looking for.
Jesus this is shocking. The government really, really needs to reign in refugees and tell the public how many to expect and from where. If they don’t do this this shit will get out of hand.
There is absolutely no point in hand wringing about it or pontificating like a guardian journalist. If this is handled properly we’ll have a new type of populist getting into power here, division and God knows what else.
