Brexit has demonstrated that one can be a winner and a loser at the same time.
I’m unsure Brexit could have ever been a success, the only true way it could have been is if we raised standards everywhere . If we took 16% of gdp and invested in research and education. The bigger question is now how do we regain some trade and deliver growth and also get rid of these god awful think tank supported mouthpiece littering the British media.
Using the ROI that Germany pioneered in the early 90s for every million spent 11.5 million was returned in growth
What annoyed me was that it seemed to be about identity, which with some work could be made into “formally out but de facto in”. I think it could have worked as a Switzerland/Norway kind of thing, but instead we decided to impose sanctions on ourselves to make some sort of point. Now there’s some real problems and the political system is unable to change the decision.
>It’s over. The Brexit debate has finally finished. The Conservative Party – the party in charge of Brexit – have effectively admitted that undoing Brexit would help to fix the UK’s economic crisis.
OK, now we just need Starmer to admit the same and we can get on with fixing the country.
>With millions of people suffocated by poverty, and gasping for air, our government is proudly holding our heads under water.
Perhaps Starmer needs to rethink “taking back control” and “making brexit work”? The “look what you made me do, I had no choice” defence (trying to win back red wall voters) doesn’t look so good now.
Well done 5.2 people out of 10, you successfully managed to fuck up the country beyond all hope.
No amount of blaming anyone but yourself will make any difference.
Ahh so the wealthy brexiteers have made their money/moved their money/avoided their tax now, so we can rejoin the EU. Gotcha.

The headline continues – “The party who are in charge of Brexit have effectively admitted that undoing Brexit would help to fix the UK’s economic crisis”.
The debate is finished in the sense it had any benefits whatsoever apart from enriching a few toffs and hostile foreign powers. But it still holds sway with a few mostly elderly adherents and apparently the two main political parties for now.
Is it finished? The Brexit implemented is the most stringent and non-aligned version of Brexit.
I feel like not reconsidering some of the decisions made in the negotiations would be disastrous for the UK. The UK doesn’t have to rejoin, but a customs union in order to avoid the pitfalls of the Northern Ireland protocol or some sort of greater regulatory alignment. Turkey has a better deal with the EU than the UK does.
I think most Brexiteers agree that rejoining the single market would massively boost our economy, but a single market isn’t what the EU wants to be, is it?
The fundamental issue has always been that British people and continental Europeans disagree about what the EU should be. British people want the EU to be a trading bloc and nothing more, whereas continental Europeans aspire to much deeper integration that would look more like the US. Europe has made it clear that they aren’t willing to compromise their future plans to keep us. Rejoining the EU is futile because we are never going to have a prosperous partnership until British people and European people are ready to pull in the same direction – either the EU needs to collapse and reform as a trading bloc, or British people need to start seeing themselves as citizens of Europe rather than the UK.
Fuck brexit and fuck the people that voted for it
Even now a lot of them still say its the eus fault and blame everyone but themselves
Well done , u royally fucked it for the rest of us amd future generations
The debate might be finished, but the damage will last for decades. To think that people actually voted for this shit!!
I’m glad we were able to settle that debate before we did any irrevocable damage to the country.
It was never a debate in the first place. A debate must involve two coherent, logical positions.
This was just one side trying to have a debate and the other flinging its own faeces everywhere.
This isn’t over by a long way, it’s just beginning.
It’s so strange people pin everything wrong with the country on Brexit, when we’ve just had 2 years of furlough and economic shutdown.
It could definitely have been done better, but seeing the EU as some sort of land of milk and honey, rather than a hyper capitalist neoliberal bureaucracy baffles me.
Narrator voice: The Brexit Debate was not finished
It’s not over until the Northern Ireland border is permanently sorted out.
This was always going to be a major issue.
It’s not over if we are all still living with the consequences.
Well, at least the debate can kick off about ‘Brejoining’ now…👍
No it isn’t, see I’ve carried it on. Although it’s cleary a disaster.
The thing is, we can’t “undo” Brexit. You can’t vote to turn back time. All we could do is apply to join again and hope they let us, but it’d be a different agreement and we’d probably not have the same standing as we did before.
I’ve been in a coma for 8 years, so it went well… or?
“Government doesn’t work!” — Conservatives
Conservatives are in charge and break everything and then join their corporate sponsors to offer all those services previously offered by the government but at 500% greater cost.
“See we told you!” — Conservatives
Now they just have to admit Better Together wasn’t Better for Scotland
For the engineers of Brexit, the ones who sheltered their assets abroad or in commodities, the process has been a flawed victory. They forced a fire-sale of the currency and enterprises, hoping to ride a bounce-back that is still in the post. After all, it was Jacob Rees-Mogg’s father, William, who wrote the manual of disaster capitalism, “Blood in the Streets”.
Best showcase for not leaving the EU though. It used to spark fear of more countries leaving but if the UK can’t make it work, otgers won’t be more confident that they can..
Oh yay that thing I was a few months to young to vote on but have to live with the consequences for the rest of my life… yay
Conservative party proven willing to destroy the country to avoid admitting they were weing
I’ve enjoyed and will continue to enjoy the game of “see how long it takes for us to be able to convince the morons we need to undo the thing we did” safe from my ivory tower, long since emigrated.
It’s a hoot.
Tbh the debate should have been over long ago. We are where we are, can we just get on with fixing everything, please.
Reversing Brexit requires dissolution of the United Kingdom as we know and England, Scotland, and Wales must rejoin the EU as individual nation-states, while Northern Ireland has to be reunited with the Republic of Ireland.
According to who?
In my view, it’s only over when the media and other hedge fund cunts that orchestrated it, get tried and convicted for fraud because they conned a nation to get richer.
Can we punish all the pricks that voted for it. Remove their vote in the future or something for being so stupid
