Just moved to France – is this a scam sms?

  1. Yes sure. This is fishing trick.

You can receive by email too. Well, that’s started something like 2 years. It’s a bot scammer, I guess… Still alive.

  2. Scam SMS. Also, there is a gross grammatical error (made with Google translate, hope my English is correct)

  3. Yes, I got the same one this morning.

These supposedly automated messages do not normally come from private mobile numbers (starting with 06 or 07). The text is full of spelling mistakes, but you might not know it so I get it, and that url is just sus.

  4. Yes, Always. Be careful in the future when you really wait for a parcel : you may , by chance, receive the same sort of message but it is just a coincidence, that’s why they send that sort of message so often. Just never click on those links, go directly to the site where you bought your item to follow you parcel.

  5. You can report sms spam by forwarding it to [the number 33700](https://www.33700.fr/identifier-et-signaler-un-spam-sms/). If it’s not an mms, it will ask back the phone number of the sender. You send it in reply and the spam signaling will be completed. I do this for every spam and I get relatively few spams.

The notification that some parcel is available for picking is apparently the most frequent spam. I get tens of them through my gmail address.

When you buy a product online to be delivered, you must receive a number to track it. Use this number with a direct connection by yourself to the carrier web site. Never click and follow links in mails for parcels. There are too many scams.

  6. To add onto what was said, all official french services have urls ending in ‘.fr’, and the government ones ending in ‘.gouv.fr’, ‘.com’ urls aren’t officially used by any public services

  7. Just ignore any sms with a link
If you did buy something go to the actual website/apps as usual to check it out, never use fake link even if it’s « look the same »

  8. C’est de l’arnaque. Comme tout les messages venant d’un +336 ou +337, netflix, colis, pizza .. Ils essayent tout pour que tu clique sur le lien pour pouvoir te pirater

  9. Life pro tip : if the message contains a link, it’s most likely a scam. You’ll usually get a reference number to enter on Laposte’s website, or the delivery company’s website.

Also some people are doing that kind of thing, but rather than sending you a message, they slide in your mailbox a message saying that you need to pay customs fee before going to get your package. Laposte have reacted to this, iirc they said they’d never ask you money to get your package, or that you’d pay at the counter.

  10. Yes.
Well, there is a lot of scam, it’s crazy. The worst are all the intermediary website which appears legitimate… they pay to get ranked up above the official one, designed to look the same and charge you for public service l(they still do the application after for you but that still a scam).

  11. In France, most or all company/ official SMS are displayed with, as the sender, a 5 digits number or directly the company name.

If you have any doubt, just don’t trust any SMS not displayed in one of the 2 above form.
