Federale regering wil ook oudste kerncentrales enkele winters langer openhouden

  1. Nuclear is still essential for our energy mix for the coming 20_30 years.

Like it or not, it’s the truth. So this is good & only logical

  2. And how much energy and money have we lost so far by trying to close them?

The amount of money this country throws in dustbin due to the bureaucracy is astonishing.

  3. Meh, short term this doesn’t matter, unless of course they make another bad deal with Engie saddling us with future debts.

But there is still absolutely zero long term vision. I’m not interested in the next two winters. I’m interested in what they want to do in 10 or 20 years time. Are we going to keep investing in renewable energy so that can become our main source of energy, or are we going to gamble everything and hope that those new generation nuclear plants ever become a thing, while simultaneously somehow solving the nuclear waste problem?

The first option is obviously the better one, but no decision at all is by far the worst.

  4. Utter and total morons, if they would have seen sense in the previous gov , or the start of this one when it was clear this was going to happen we could have saved so much trouble and money.

  5. Tis late retard shitshow is gonna cost us taxpayers a lot as this situation gives all the negotiating card to engie and they are gonna fuck us hard!

  6. >Having access to additional capacity of both offshore wind and Small Modular Reactors (SMRSs) reduces the *annual* costs of achieving net-zero to 11,7 billion euro by 2050, which is 9,6 billion euro less than under the Central Scenario.
This saving of 46 % compared to the annual costs under the Central Scenario is realized thanks to lower costs of energy import of electricity and clean molecules, a lower need for flexibility options such as smart charging and batteries, and a faster electrification of freight road transport.
