  1. *Chräbeli*, a classic Swiss Xmas cookie on rank 19 of worst foods? :/

    Here’s a recipe from [Betty Bossi](https://www.bettybossi.ch/de/Rezept/ShowRezept/BB_BKXX060801_0374A-40-de): you judge!

    For 2 trays holding a total of about 60 cookies, you need:

    * 4 fresh eggs (230-250 g weighed with the shell)
    * 450 g icing sugar
    * 1 pinch of salt
    * 1.5 tbsp aniseed
    * 1 tbsp. Kirsch
    * approx. 550 g flour

    Mix the eggs, sugar and salt with the whisks of the hand mixer for approx. 5 minutes until the mixture is foamy. Mix in the aniseed and Kirsch.

    Add the flour, quickly combine to form a dough, do not knead. Shape the dough into rolls of approx. 1½ cm diameter each, cut into approx. 5 cm long pieces, cut them 2-3 times at a slight angle, bend a little.

    To dry: Place the Chräbeli on the prepared trays. Dry the Chräbeli open at room temperature for about 24 hours. They are sufficiently dry when a light margin is visible on the underside. Do not leave the tray in a draught.

    Preheat the oven to 140 degrees (Celsius, dear Americans!).

    Bake for about 20 minutes in the lower half of the oven, holding the oven door open a little with a ladle handle. Take out, cool slightly, remove from the tray with a spatula and cool on a rack.

  2. American Goulash!!! 😂

    I went skiing in Hungary some years-back. And had honest to goodness Goulash in Hungary!!! In a little ski restaurant. The ski area owners daughter took me skiing and comped me the soup. So delicious!!!

  3. Haven’t eaten it in years. My mother used to make it once every other week. The peach with some cream on top combined with the curry hit a sweet spot back then.

    Brb…

  4. Most BS list you can find. Anís de Flavigny is some sort of anís tic tac, i don’t see how 1) it qualify as dish, and 2) it can be a bad dish…

  5. this list just comfirms, why italians get angry if you try a “creative take” on pizza.

    But i think Riz Casimir is by far not the worst swiss dish.

  6. I feel so offended that they think American Goulash is gross… That shit is nostalgia for me! I love it! And it’s not even that different from the tomato-y beef stuff over macaroni elbows they sell here. Like, tweak it a tad by adding some garlic powder and cheddar cheese and voilà! American Goulash!

  7. Riz Casimir is so fecking weird.

    Like, I can see how it’s meant to imitate Kashmiri curry, but just… Make kashmiri curry instead?

    Did Switzerland look at the Korma with envy or something lol

  8. Well I quite enjoy a well made Riz Casimir….I would be more concerned about my home cuisine to have multiple listings in the top 50 (e.g. USA)

  9. What a silly list. Trippa Romana, Endive au jambon when done well are delicious. Riz Casimir is certainly unorthodox and unsophisticated but is really fine as a ski camp meal.

  10. Riz Casimir isn’t anything special, but it’s also not offensive in any way. Compared to some of the weird shit on that list

  11. Depends on your definition of “worst” I guess.

    Riz Casimir certainly doesn’t taste worse than Lutefisk. But it’s far less interesting and a very bland dish. It’s in essence, just rice, cream, kurkuma and a random smattering of “exotic” fruit.

  12. I can’t believe that my whole life has been a lie…I’m almost ashamed to say it but I always thought that the rice Casimir was an Indian culinary speciality…

    The one from Colombia is funny though ! At least the name, “hormiga culona” which means “big butt ant”.

  13. Riz Casimir is just inoffensive in a particularly offensive way. If you ever worked in a hospital and it was Riz Casimir-day you know what I mean. Every army walks on its stomach, and so does every other random assortment of people who have to go through some tough shit together – like patients. Riz Casimir is just a tired “meh…” from the entire floor. Wrong dish if you want to boost moral of any kind.
