Amazon workers claim robots are treated better

  1. How many times do people need to hear about the working conditions of amazon before they stop applying to work there…theres literally worker shortages everywhere yet they still apply to Amazon.

  2. Robots have a significant cost; humans can be easily replaced.

    I’m shocked anyone is surprised.

But maybe, just maybe, one of the richest companies in the world could; you know; not treat staff so poorly?

  3. I did a few months in the Swansea warehouse years ago. I’d get randomly searched like a criminal on my lunch break for items from the floor.

I packed that job in quite quickly.

  4. > But union members want to be paid £15 an hour. Mr Westwood said the 50p offer was “a smack in the mouth”.

Any reason to pluck that figure out of thin air? Or is this more jumping on the American $15/hr bandwagon?

  5. Fuck Amazon. I’ve cancelled my Prime memberships today and as soon as what I’ve already paid for has expired I’ll delete my accounts after 20+years. Selfishly I could put up with the abuse of workers because it’s not at the front of my mind, they get paid (yeah I’m scum), I wasn’t really aware of the conditions and I got used to the convenience, but now I’m sick of the poor customer service as Amazon’s shit way of treating their own employees has now spread to the way they treat their customers too. Weak I know, but I’m out.

  6. There just minimum wage monkeys working in a Wearhouse do the job or quit

Aslong as people get there Amazon dvd think they’ll find people don’t really care

  7. This was always coming, but I don’t think the conversations surrounding this will be full and thorough yet.

You’ll either need legislation that caps the amount of staff that can be replaced by automation.

Or we need to discuss a Universal Basic Income that is enough. However, UBI needs a lot of debate too.

  8. Of course, amazon is just getting ahead for when they’re our overlords.

I too welcome our robot overlords.

  9. As an Amazon employee myself, I don’t find it nearly as bad as the media say. Experiences will vary however depending on the site, department and even the person.

  10. Robots don’t argue about needing cash to live or little things like using the toilet, having proper breaks instead of walking 15 minutes to the staff room and having 5 minutes to eat. Robots are better because pesky people demand to be treated like people. /s

Amazon will continue to get away with this shit because they basically have a monopoly and can avoid paying their taxes, treat staff like shit because people will use them. Amazon is just a giant that can bully people.
