Anyone know why Royal Navy was in Dublin today?

  1. I work in Grand Canal Dock and I have seen a whole host of naval ships down through the years, including Russian destroyers, Dutch frigates and submarines, and French minesweepers. Naval visits are not unusual. I even remember the USS John F Kennedy visiting in the 1990’s. I got a tour of the ship (that thing took up the entire horizon).

Go and have a chat with them, they will probably give you a tour. That particular ship has a storied history. I had a chat with them last night.

  2. The Defence forces 2 Brigade HQ and DFHQ office is in Cathal Brugha barracks just up the road I’m Rathmines. The naval service docks in this same area on the Liffy when they head to that barracks.

Could be they are doing the same.

  3. I dont think people realise how close the British military is with us sometimes, this’s very common. Training or Induction on something, sharing info who knows…this’s no surprise

  4. They’re doing their routine WWE tours, to ensure we still like beer. That’s the HMS Brock Lesnar. The fleet incarnate.

  5. Diesel prices are cheaper here

And we share a stretch of water so popping in for a visit on both sides keeps everyone friendly and makes for good coordination

  6. We can’t or won’t defend ourselves. Govt doesn’t want to. They seem to prefer this. Get used to it.

  7. They are planning re-invasion… this was a quick recce to see how the land lies before they come back and plunder all our lovely spuds.
