Hoteliers declining to host refugees due to fear of protests and local opposition

  1. This will go well, moving people from buildings which are at least purposed for providing accommodation into offices, schools and sports halls will go down a treat.

  2. Interestingly there’s a hotel in Donegal that wants to take in refugees but such was the lack of response from the government they’ve given up on it

  3. This is disheartening , we should have had hotels sign 2-3 year contracts. Either way its time to start planning long term accommodation for people in the asylum system. Modular and and public housing needs to be ramped up massively. Our building targets are terrible!

  4. Why is there never a long term solution to these these proposals when they’re first announced. This had writing on the wall when they first came out with it.

  5. Or it could be tourists or the fact that rte showed a hotel that was full of refugees and hadn’t received payment from the government in months

  6. The government should just get the embarrassment out of the way and say they can’t handle the logistics of more refugees. Maybe the EU can send a few people over who can do the job better.
