  1. I thought teaching was particularly valued and well paid in Finland. Does the wage increase quickly after starting, perhaps?

  2. These look pretty good compared to median income. Europe isn’t nearly as wealthy as America is and a lot of people don’t get that.

  3. I think the color scheme is very bad giving that half of the countries fits within a single shade.

Also this map is not very useful if not adjusted by PPP.

  4. I was an English teacher in Russia a while back and I worked at a Cambridge accredited language school. The Russian teachers I worked with made half of what I made which to me was insane and then I learned that they make three times as much as teachers in regular Russian public schools.

Now I teach in Italy and the pattern continues. People are willing to pay for teachers when they personally need it (i.e. adults who need to learn English) but society doesn’t collectively care to ensure that public school teachers get paid enough to teach the country’s future. It’s insane.

  5. The UK wasn’t collected, but NQTs start at £25,714 (€28,774) outside London, rising to £32,157 (€35,984) in Inner London.

  6. germany has without a doubt the worst working conditions and fluctuates wildly between states while Baden-Württemberg offers pretty great pay the working conditions are pretty bad, bradeburg and lower saxony dont pay as much but offer better working conditions and quicker einbeamtung so its soso so its commo that olde teachers go to the higher paying states whie youg teaschers go to lower saxoy and bradenburg to get beamten
