Can the Government live up to its promises on housing?

  1. Haven’t read the article, but seeing as the question is asking will the government deliver something they’ve promised, I’m gonna base my answer on previous experience and say No.

  2. I don’t think they can do a whole lot in the next few years to speed things up. What they’ve managed since the last election is too little too late, they set a fairly low target of about 30k houses and there was plenty of talk last few weeks about how they essentially met that target in 2022.

Didn’t see much mention of the social housing targets though. From the article:

“One target that the Government did not meet last year was social housing delivery.

Minister Darragh O’Brien has hinted that he expects final figures to show around 7,000-8,000 social homes were delivered last year. This is below the target of 10,500 social housing new builds.”

it will take years to sort this mess out.

  3. Given their track record no, given people’s inability to work as a cohesive group to challenge it, this will go on unless Ireland population drops dramatically, which won’t happen ethier, given the current world situation.

So am gonna say no, didn’t care ten years ago don’t care now, still getting paid, as are their buddies, so it’s a go fuck yourself from those in power.

  4. > Betteridge’s law of headlines is an adage that states: “Any headline that ends in a question mark can be answered by the word no.”
