The state of the houses after the earthquake in Kahramanmaraş.

  1. Pancake stacking. The top floor collapses onto the bottom floors and then the whole thing goes onto the street. People in the top floors are more likely to survive while those on the bottom floors are flattened.

  2. Note that probably even the ones that were left standing, will have to be demolished and rebuilt from scratch.

  3. How sad to see this photo. Not only the economic loss of the families, but even worse, how many lives were lost in a few seconds.

  4. Where will survivors go? Looks like the weather is not much warmer than it is here in Finland, getting colder this week.

Peace to the souls of those who have lost their lives

  5. I feel sorry for my country, I wish we had made the houses stronger … but the stupid house builders used the poorest materials and as a result we are here with this nasty and sad sight. I hope my brothers in Maraş are alive, I listen to the whole thing from Istanbul with concern. ❤️

  6. As we always say, Eartquake does not kill, poorly built buildings do. But no one listens, thanks to you people who support Turkey

  7. These pictures should stand as a reminder. A reminder of the unimaginable horrors that earthquakes are capable of creating. And a reminder of the terrible infrastructure plaguing Turkey that allowed the situation to get worse.

  8. These images are so shocking. We woke up to such devistating news from our neighbours, a truly heartbreaking tragedy. I’m an atheist so I won’t send prayers, but I strongly believe that as EU we should assist in any way possible, those affected in Turkey and Syria, to the fullest extent of our power. Stay strong everyone, you will get through this.

  9. They are still talking about 2000 death.. I expects it to be much much higher. The damage is so huge and widespread. Would be surprised if it end near 20.000.. .
