The Flemish Parliament has approved the plan of the Flemish government, which divides Flanders into 15 regions. According to Flemish Minister of the Interior Bart Somers (Open VLD), this way a clean sweep can be made in “the opaque mush of supra-local partnerships”. There are now 15 regional partnerships. All Limburg regions form one region.

Apart of the political blah blah blah, does it bring any real benefit?
I really would like to know if it specifically improve the lives of any of you and how.

I don’t think you can separate this from the political blah blah blah.
Me saying this will only cost us more money, and provide me with no improvement of my life, is an inherently political statement, because it is the opposite of what the politicians claim.
Absolute best case scenario, is that it will provide no benefit, but also has no immediate negative effect. Because the same tasks (garbage collecting,….) will still need to be done, only the areas in which they are organized will change.
Most likely effect is prices will rise though. Limburg used to have some cheaper municipal services (water, electricity & gas connection costs), but as the flemish government kept forcing more mergers of those entities, our prices shot up. So I’m glad Limburg isn’t impacted by this bullshit, cause we’ve got things organized well already.
It will probably not directly “improve our lives”, but it will make certain things more efficient. The organisation of, for example, police/ambulance/firefighters or garbage collection or schools and education.
Who the fuck needs a digital tool to find their own home on a map?
Limburg stands strong.
they could’ve chosen cooler names tho
Man, at first I thought this was a replacement of provincies, but turns out it’s just another layer on top of everything else
After Noord Brabant, Waals Brabant and Vlaams Brabant say hello to Oost Brabant whoop whoop
Limburg valt niet op te splitsen. Behalve als het over het correcte woord voor een langwerpige gefrituurde vleesworst gaat.
Why choose another geographical region? There are already local care zones (eerstelijnszones). Why not just copy those? Now it will become a huge clusterfuck.
I’ve lived in the Campine (Kempen) my whole life and still do. If they had got it different on this map, they would simply have been wrong.
Aww, we zijn uit de Westhoe gevallen.
Originele namen wel. Westhoek, Midwest, Zuid-West-Vlaanderen
Wow this is really bad.
I love that there’s a Midwest.
Antwerp, Gent, and Brugge are the only cities that get regions named after them. Are the other cities pissed?
As if our country wasn’t complicated and costly enough
