Bitoque com ovo a cavalo – beef steak with fried egg on top and it is served usually with butter and garlic sauce. It is a very typical Portuguese dish that you will find in every average restaurant (not always with the sauce though)
In the south, Bitoque com ovo a cavalo, in the north, Prego em prato. Looks shoddy as hell though.

Recipe, seriously?

Edit: tanto hate…
Prego no prato
Tanto hate desnecessário, tou chocado.
The correct name is “Prego no Prato” that can be translated into to “Nail in the plate”… Hence the “nail” in your food.
If you liked it, I recommend Cafe de São Bento, amazing steak with a very good same style sauce
Here in the north of Portugal , we call it “prego em prato”
(recipe from chatgpt):
is a traditional Portuguese dish that typically consists of a steak (usually a thin cut of sirloin or rump steak) that is pan-fried and served with fried egg, french fries, and rice. Here is a rough translation of a recipe for “Bitoque à Portugalia” in English:
Ingredients:
4 thin cut sirloin or rump steaks
Salt and pepper, to taste
4 eggs
Oil, for frying
4 servings of french fries
4 servings of cooked rice
Instructions:
Season the steaks with salt and pepper on both sides.
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add enough oil to coat the bottom of the pan.
Once the oil is hot, add the steaks to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
Remove the steaks from the skillet and set them aside to rest.
In the same skillet, fry the eggs to your liking.
Cook the french fries according to package instructions.
Serve the steaks with a fried egg on top, french fries on the side and rice.
Note: The recipe can vary according to each region, this is a basic version of it.
Bife com ovo a cavalo?
Bitouch
Bife à Portugália
You loved that sauce, right?
I theory it’s a secret recipe but several recipes are around that try to mimic it, search for “molho portugalia” or sometimes just “molho à cervejeiro” (beermaster sauce?)
Prego no prato/bitoque
Bitoque.
I think that is a nail on the plate
Cervejaria Portugalia! My favorite! The sauce is the key! Ainda a pouco la tive na almirante Reis! 🫶🏽😍
Isso é 1 bife a cervejeira
A steak, a fried egg and rice + chips is hardly a “recipe”
Francesinha
This is a steak at Portugalia restaurants. The sauce is a secret but you can fry the steak in a pan, take it out when it’s cooked to your taste, then add cream and mustard in the same pan, mix it and serve over the steak
Isn’t this “Bife À Portugália” with their sauce?
bitoque com ovo a cavalo.
Thats a typical Lisbon dish. Have a pint or two with it.
You should try Arouquesa meat (carne Arouquesa) from Arouca.
bitoque?
The recipe is, you can only eat it in Portugália.
Bitoque
It’s pretty simple you slice some garlic add to the stakes, let it cook with margarine not butter cuz the butter will burn… Then remove the stakes, add some milk to the pan, “cafe de cevada” wich if I’m not mistaken it’s like grinded coffee powder, a tea spoon.
And some mustard to taste, flour mixed it. Let the sauce thicken and there you have it
Bacalhau à Zé do Pipo
Bitoque
The sauce is optional my friend but if you want it that bad:
– half a kg of butter
– dark pepper (use and abuse it)
– white wine (just a glass)
– cooking cream
– garlic as much as you want.
Pinch of olive oil, LOW HEAT, add the CHOPPED garlic, cook it nice and blonde, ADD THE REST OF THE BUTTER, add the wine, drink the remaining wine and add pepper. When it’s boiling good add the cream. When the sauce is done use a blender to mix it WELL. You can also add mustard if you like, I’d use a spoonful of Dijon

BITOQUE CARALHO
Muita ignorância neste post
estou a ver que daqui ninguem conhece a portugália. lol
The bitoque recipe is simple, but the recipe of the sauce in that particular restaurant (Portugália) is supposedly secret.
And now you also know that Portuguese people are not happy and just need to clean the hate of their bodies.
The recipe is easy, cow beef with an egg on top and the good thing can be different from place to place but you can translate the following recipe
