Dear Switzerland, I love your snow removal shovels. What do you call them? I would like to see if I can’t order one online.

We call them… *drumroll* **Schneeschaufel** – snow shovel.
Schneeschufle
Thats the classic Schneeschaufel 90, or as we Swiss call it the SS90.
This looks like a limited Urs Abderhalden Sports-edition from 2014 (SS90-S – ultra light, special design and look at the small carbon connection). Used in competive shoveling and more extreme conditions. A great tool for experinced sportsmen but also popular with collectors.
Have you tried contacting the Swiss-Snowshoveling-Federation SSF? Their offices are in Olten.
Oh, you mean the Hand Held Manually Operated Snow Removal Device.
So, you’d like to shovel snow?

The Witchmobile, Winter Edition.
Ideally you’ll want different sizes of snow shovels depending on snow’s weight.
You can find similar ones at landi.ch
Pelle à neige
As a Canadian that lived in Switzerland for many years, these are the worst snow shovels ever !
This any good? Snow might slip left or right
Schneeschufle
More efficient is a “Schneehäx”, “Schneehexe”, a snow witch. And, with the right technique it needs less force.

Get a Schneeschaufel at Landi, it will be cheaper than ordering online.
Schneeschuflä
If your searching one of wooden you need to search for ‘Schneeschaufel aus Holz‘ = snow shovel made of wood. Otherwise just ‘Schneeschaufel’ is enough 🙂
Every swiss soldier gets one at the end of his military duty. It’s called Fass 90. (Factory Anti Snow Shovel 90)
Thanks for the second picture, I wasn’t quite sure if I’d recognize it from the first one.
all answers are correct, but let’s not forget “pala da neve”
I hate those to be honest. Therr are no “bumpers” on side, so snow falls out as you shovel.
Exactly you can’t
The wooden bladed ones don’t last as long, but are more beautiful. Plus when they wear out, you can just burn em.
