Russian state TV rewrites WWII narrative: “Europe took side of the Nazis”

  1. If there is one country that sided with the Nazis, it was the Soviet Union with the Molotov-ribbentroppact, nicely dividing Poland.

  2. It has been going like this for years. Earlier soviet films about war always featured multiple people from different soviet republics and other nations fighting together. Later, it was only russians+some of the soviet republics. Around 10 years ago, it was “only russian( not even soviet) people fought, europe just gave up, and the USA just gave some money” narrative. So this it just next stage.

  3. Well, I will give them that one since it was somewhat true. I mean, the countries that befriended the Nazis were Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Italy, Russia… Oh wait.

  4. When you think Russian propaganda can’t get any more ridiculous and they still manage to take it up a notch.

    Edit: Added a word

  5. At this point it’s a test if you have an IQ above the level of flies (which have about IQ 7 for reference). Facts and history went out the window a looong time ago.

I understand that an abusive regime spits propaganda at every step, but supposedly you can still thin for yourself

  6. Typical brainwashed Russian brain that stopped evolving after WW2. Like seriously come up with something new already, i used to wait forward for Russian fairytales but it seems that they are stuck on repeate now.

  7. The sun rises in the east, 2+2=5, water is dry, white is black, Putin is Jesus and the Giannis shouldn’t be the MVP

  8. USSR wanted to formally join the axis. The negotiations were back and forth, and ultimately it was the nazis that decided to walk away from a deal.

Meanwhile the nazis tried to negotiate with Britain, and Britain was the one to refuse a deal.

Theres also the fact ussr cooperated with the nazis to invade Poland, setting the ground for the death camps set up on Polish soil.

Or the fact that the USSR executed 22,000 polish pow’s and academics, to try and destroy the educated class in case poland later sought independence.

So which side are we comparing to the nazis, again?

-Edit to clarify death camps were on Polish soil, but nothing to do with the Polish government or people *

  9. WWII was literally started by Nazi Germany AND Soviet Union invading Poland. Like with actual troops. How do people not know this?

“On 17 September 1939, the Soviet Union invaded Poland from the east, 16 days after Nazi Germany invaded Poland from the west. Subsequent military operations lasted for the following 20 days and ended on 6 October 1939 with the two-way division and annexation of the entire territory of the Second Polish Republic by Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union.”

Why do we still talk about Nazi Germany alone starting WWII?

  10. Lol. Let it never be forgotten that the only reason ruzzia wasn’t allies of the Nazis is because Nazis broke their agreement.

Otherwise they would have been the best of friends.

  11. Is this surprising you? Putin’s brain is stuck in the cold war and ww2. It is very scary that he can unleash a nightmare upon us all with a push of a button.

  12. This is the Cult of Victory which Putin has successfully created during his tenure. The memory of WW2 has been weaponized to an extent that makes the Soviet Union look respectful. As another poster here pointed out – it used to be a multinational effort against an evil ideology that wished to put people in ethnic boxes, now it’s an ethnic struggle against evil ”fascists”, where ”fascists’ are entire ethnic groups that oppose the imperialism of the modern Russian state or its historical imperialism.

  13. It was a mistake to support the Soviet regime during the war. Should have just handled the Nazis our selves and freed the former Soviet nations from either rule.

  14. reminder that this is a propaganda for internal audience. Moreover, it’s targeted for that part of internal audience which would most likely join the “special military operation” in Ukraine. It’s a classic market research. For example, there was a report a couple of days ago that majority of military casualties in one region had no higher education, etc.

  15. “Europe took side of the Nazis”

Parts of Europe during WW2 indeed did. And Soviet Union was first in line.

  16. Putin is planning deporting 100.000 Ukrainians from occupied areas to whatever gulags or death camps in Siberia. Says we are the Nazis.

  17. It is so poorly and pathetically of what they are doing in the name of Russia. Do they have really something like a kind of honour and dignity?
