It’s a long one but definitely worth watching if you’re interested in biodiversity and the future of Irish forestry.
Gathering happening at the Papal Cross in Phoenix Park Monday the 6th at 1:30. There will be music, face painting and talks on Irish ecology and land management.
Otherwise follow the Gaelic Woodland Project (charity) and Croí na Cré (community group) to meet some professional hippies.
Thank you for posting. This is a very concise explaination and it is so important to get the information out there.
Thanks for posting this.
The deal that Coillte did with the Englsih Finance company smells to high heaven.
Why was the state sponsored body who are meant to be the experts of Irish Forestry selling off Irish land to be managed by and English Finace house??. It went under the radar on the news last week.
Was hoping it would have been a statement from the EU regarding the fact that Coillte has to run at a profit by EU law, because to me it seems like that is the biggest obstruction to environmentally best practice forestry in Ireland.

This is happening because some rich and influential people are buying up cheap and unsuitable land and converting it into forestry and selling it as “carbon offset emissions” because that’s where the money is with he ‘green revolution’
If the government kept things in the country for once and offered some nice sums of money to sheep farmers who are damn close to retirement anyway we’d have potentially thousands of hectares of land that actually had forests on it within the last 2,000 years.
