I’ve seen this ad in Japan that is known as [Long Long Man](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-1Ue0FFrHY) it’s a ad for a piece of gummy candy you can stretch, the story arc is about a couple (Chi-Chan & Tooru-San) who both enjoy eating the candy together, however once the Long Long man intervenes, Chi-Chan is conflicted between her relationship with Tooru-San and the Long Long man. The plot twist is that she thought the long man is interested or in love with her, but it turns out he has a crush on Tooru-San, as it is shown during the wedding scene.
In 2017, at the time this was aired, it was broken into 10 ads that still maintained a narrative, while still promoting their product ([Sakeru Gummy](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/M/MV5BZTA4NjBlNDMtMWE0YS00NmViLTk2OWEtY2VkZTkwODQ1YmM1XkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyOTg5ODU0NjA@._V1_FMjpg_UX1000_.jpg)). This ad gotten popular online due to the story telling implemented, it kept viewers interested despite it being an ad on TV. I mean Japanese ads in general are different from the ones we know, they have a unique way of marketing, like [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yf3DbZM_mc)
There’s even an ad online and [billboards](https://www.google.com/search?q=%E3%83%91%E3%82%B9%E3%83%AF%E3%83%BC%E3%83%89%E5%BA%83%E5%91%8A&sxsrf=AJOqlzXP6miT96O51sCPEb-jFyIqufqECw:1675403510442&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwihpuG41Pj8AhXYkokEHRMsBGQQ_AUoAXoECAEQAw&biw=1396&bih=736&dpr=1.38#imgrc=KyqW1IISM4cNaM) about [password protection](https://www.ipa.go.jp/security/keihatsu/munekyun-pw/) promoted like this:
* Romance story arc: girl falls in love with a guy, they eventually form a bond
* Presented in a anime – manga style
* The guy uses the analogy of the password, on saying “taking your password lightly is dangerous”, a personification on creating more secure passwords.
* More info mentioned [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBJYz2vYhY4) (start at around 7:27 til 9:29, is when they discuss it)
* There’s an article about this on [crunchyroll](https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2015/04/07-1/public-service-ads-promote-it-security-with-shoujo-manga)
In hindsight, are Polish ads on TV that good? How funny are they? Are there any examples with a story arc? I mean in a series of ads. What are the common tropes found in Polish ads?

Used to be good, now dumb.
Compared to Long Long Man, our commercials are just terrible and boring. I love Japanese sick ideas.
There was a cool series of comercials of Biedronka where animated grocery products spoke in food related puns.
But now a pinnacle of creativity is a god awful add of Media Expert, where some kind of a singer bimbo sings an awful slogan (‘Media Expert is cool’ but “is” is in polish because Engrish is cool amongst the kids) to a tune of a ’90 hit, and that gets stuck in your head. It’s annoying, it’s everywhere all the time, the colour scheme is obnoxious, and everyone fucking hates it.
In the majority I think, there are happy corporate perfect reality filled with guitar+whistling/clapping joyful music CMs. And in some cases they show scenarios that have little to no connection with the real world Poland. It’s not the optimistic and crazy kind of commercials seen in Japan.
There are countless prevalent for years with scenario drugs commercials: filled with white scenery and people pretending to be surgeons, or family members almost quoting in uncanny way all the benefits some cough syrup or dietary supplement might give you. Alcohol CMs for some time are aired only after primetime.
In the 90 and early 00s ads were dubbed – still happens but it’s not that obnoxious nowadays as it used to.
One comment mentions Biedronka ads with puns – I’m pretty sure there weren’t that much of serialized ads like Sakeru Gummy. It’s rather ads aim at picking bunch of people and roll not connected by “story” series of CMs; these might include recognizable people like KMN cabaret group members who were advertising Orange telecom or other celebrities.
An old manga&anime magazine Kawaii was filling their CDs with Japanese commercials – there was always something with Ayumi and [BOSS coffee](https://youtu.be/GMVtKs9shZo) or [Panasonic cameras](https://youtu.be/yHvx6r30mCY), or in last years [Fits chewing gum](https://youtu.be/TPT31oa74NU). I find this one of [Mitsuya Cider](https://youtu.be/gBEbe4P3zTo) as my personal favorite; [they even got one with Rick Astley](https://youtu.be/dgRolIY44vs). BOSS had also series of [Tommy Lee Jones as an alien](https://youtu.be/DaertH40hqE) CMs
Boring or/and annoying and/or crigne – you switch the channel.
OK ppl, but do you remeber old HEyah commercials: [No to Sru!](https://youtu.be/Wvu-A1JEIrw) 😀
If you’re in a mood for some crying: [English for Beginners](https://youtu.be/tU5Rnd-HM6A)
There was a series of ads for a mobile phone carrier Plus some 15 years ago that were short absurdist comedy skits about the employees of a mobile phone shop, you can search for it on YT under “kabaret mumio plus”, for example here’s a compilation https://youtu.be/k9o-TcUWQdc
After that that style of absurd advertising became quite popular for a few years but this has died down over time.
Nowadays most ads boring and cringy, the most creative ones are probably the ads for Żubr beer, which are basically wordplay based dad jokes about the Żubr (European bison) https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLS6C-pnO2WBMUI2Yj3PJfDwYC8MNRnhQX
Incidentally I think both campaigns were created by the same as as agency. And the second one also spawned copycats, like this one for the Harnaś beer https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8V5UPKBZO0fsWe1x70hTa6vDw0Cy2bte
“Mumio” and Plus telecommunication https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IPxWCoe0_HM
Most of them are for medicines
Ads in Poland typically go like this:
Do you have *insert medical problem here*?
You need *product name*!
It has been proven by many experts and uses *long word* technology!
No prescription required! Buy today at your pharmacy!

Edit: Oh man, it just hit my Bonduelle exists! Unlike other ads those are actually good
Shit and stupid but I’m biased against all adverts so I would say that.
