  1. We tried I guess. Hopefully the people still stuck and everyone else gets all the help they need.

  2. I am well aware that we are not recognizing RoC as a state but that’s not an excuse to refuse the help offer.

To any Cypriots reading this message, I would like to express my gratitude.

  3. Hypocrisy to accept Greek aid but to deny Cypriot Aid.

Its no wonder why Greeks in both Greece and Cyprus are celebrating

  4. Turkey’s behaviour and treatment of Cyprus is pure cruelty and fucking sick. It’s beyond disgusting that Turkey deliberately allows it’s own citizens to suffer more all because of not wanting to accept any offer of help from Cyprus

  5. As a cypriot it was heartwarming to read that we’re sending help. Erdogan be erdogan though 🤷🏻‍♂️

Thoughts and prayers to our neighbors in turkey, and my sincere condolences to all our turkish cypriot brothers who have lost friends and relatives as a result.

  6. If you read the full statement, it is because the aid offered is a light rescue team and the need is for heavy equipment and engineers. Greece is already there with lots of heavy machinery and winter rescue teams.

  7. Turkish-American here. I am glad to hear about Cyprus’ assistance offer. It is a pity that Erdogan did not accept the assistance.

  8. Actually letting your countrymen die rather than accept aid. How pathetic can you actually be wtf, it’s none of my business but I hope every turk understands he doesn’t care about any of you and please vote him out

  9. Dear fellow Cypriots do not be sad. This motherfucker deeply hates his own population. He doesn’t even send aid to people who voted for the opposition. It’s certainly not about you.

But thanks! This will be not forgotten. Ευχαριστώ πολύ!

  10. Oh my god you gotta be fucking kidding me, some people are already using rented construction vehicles to clear debris because THE GOVERNMENT HELP ISNT ENOUGH IN THEIR CITIES

  11. To Erdogan: How bad do you want to put yourself in bad light before the elections, to make sure you’ll lose?

    Erdogan: Yes!

  12. An obviously biased news source posted this without anything to back it up.

The link to their supposed source “Greek City Times” is dead and leads to nowhere, Greek City Times has no article about this.

If you Google this again only this one news site shows up, nothing from anyone else.

Why is this being upvoted? This website looks super shady as well.

  13. Seems strange in these circumstances to not accept help when help is given, regardless of the circumstances that are there during normal times.

Let a country help when they offer it in time of emergency.

  14. As a Turkish person, thank you to Cyprus for extending a helping hand in this time of need. Refusing something like this is beyond words. People are dying, suffering, freezing, hungry and thirsty. This is disgusting.

  15. My home country is always doing the same shit.

In last century when my country was extremely poor, and many people were starving to death, a famous writer said “I would rather starve to death than eat aided food from the US”. His that quote is still being taught in schools as a great sign of patriotism.

During the pandemic, US and Germany both offered vaccines to my country for multiple times, but the government refused, because accepting it would mean that our domestically produced vaccines look like garbage, which actually are. It doesn’t match the daily nationalism and anti-west propaganda.

Just feel lucky that I no longer live in that shitty country.

  16. Honestly, if this scale of incompetence and malice during probably one of the worst natural disaster we’ve faced so far does not result in regime change in upcoming elections, I dont know what will.

  17. I’m fairly certain the rejection is based on technical reasons, not politics. Turkey refused Romania’s offer for help last year (two years ago?) for fighting wildfires. They specifically requested certain assets (Canadair aircraft) which we don’t have. I assume they didn’t care for the additional burden of integrating what we had to offer in their efforts, nothing else. Our water bombing C-27s were all sent to Slovenia instead, while other firefighting teams were also sent to Greece, as is tradition. And we don’t have any strained relations with Turkey. Don’t read too much into it.

  18. It seems this is unsourced. The “source” linked in the article is blank. I hate Erdoğan as much as the next guy, but seems fake

  19. This is fake news.

Yet again we see people who will read and believe any headline with zero critical thinking or judgment.

Look at the website source – have you ever heard of it? Didn’t think so. And it ends with .cy, could likely a biased source, right?

Well the article cites another page as a source, from ‘Greek City Times’. Again, sounds reliable.

But even worse, when you click the cited article, it leads to a blank page.

And when you google ‘Turkey rejects Cyprus aid’, nothing else comes up.

How are we letting such disinformation be spread? OP should be ashamed.

  20. I watched a footage today a rescue team full of Grek managed to save a 6 years old girl and were all crying with others around. I did too. They might have refused help maybe becuase its not needed at that moment. Those who still seek political shits out of this may you not find remedy for your trouble!
All the officials keep saying on the tv to not to send any more supplies to the region because its enough for now.

  21. Erdoğan didn’t even let the army rush into the region. Fuckin’ traitor is afraid of a coup.

ps: Is this true by the way? Today we watched Greek team rescuing two young girls.
