Are PC DVD and CD games worth anything anymore? I donate a lot of stuff to kringloopwinkels but I just don’t know whether these games are simply trash now or if it would still be worth it to donate. I checked Kringwinkel/Kringloop websites and didn’t find anything.
Physical games seem so useless now, when you use a code on Steam I assume no one else can even play the game anymore. Or can they somehow? I’ve seen plenthy of videogames at thriftstores here but does anyone even buy those? Is there another place I could bring them to?
I really care about reusing and recycling so if it ends up in the trash I’d rather recycle it myself.

I´d like to know that as well. Same for music cd´s.
Any pc game you “donate” at kringwinkel goes in the trash either way
If it’s standalone games where the cd key is only used for purchase verification when you run the installer, they can be used by someone else.
But these would be old games, and I doubt many people would be interested in these as a lot of older games have been made available in digital format.
Anything with a cd key that is tied to any sort of launcher is worthless as those are bound to a specific account.
You could try selling/donating them online via facebook, 2ehands.be etc. Another option might be selling them to cashconverters or gamemania.
If you have pre 2000 stuff that came in big boxes put it on 2dehands or ebay. But for the rest you probably won’t find many buyers. Anything that requires online activation is garbage
Go to eBay, search for the game and then turn on the advanced filters. Check “sold items” and look at the prices. eBay and PayPal will take 20-25% of your sale and you have to spend time packing and mailing the item.
Then decide if it’s worth it.
Collectors and stuff exist, in particular for games everybody thinks are useless. Steam only made physical copies rarer. I think of my father selling his Guild Wars collection for a few euros while it was worth a few dozens ; or the Super Nintendo with all the games for a few euros as well while some games alone were worth more than a hundred.
Give a shot to [https://www.pricecharting.com/](https://www.pricecharting.com/), see if something’s valuable on there.
Otherwise there are some specialized gaming stores that’ll probably be interested.
You can sell these on stuff like 2dehand indeed. Vinted has a videogame section that’s decently popular as well.
Big box you can sell.
If it’s a sizeable collection you can try https://old.reddit.com/r/LGR/ if there are EU people there that will pay delivery.
Otherwise it’s mostly recycling park tbh. Or put them up on 2dehands/ebay in bulk. Selling it per piece would cost way too much per item for delivery and you’d go nuts sending so many packages.
If you give a picture or a list of the games, it’s be much easier to say what is worth something to people, what is useful for some people and what is trash.
If any of those CD games are “big box” releases from the 90s (and the box is still in good condition), you’ll likely be able to sell it to a collector. Check sold listings on Ebay for example.
Later releases don’t seem interesting yet to collectors.
Game mania takes in games to resell. You could check with them and see if they are interested.
Some might still be gems, especially in good condition.
Compile a list (or pic 📸 the stack) and let’s see
Depends what you got, I may be interested in buying some. They need to be non online activated type of games.
Depends on the game! some games are classics and always will be. Age of empires, heroes III for example 🙂 I’d gladly take those from you
(What should you do? Buy an older computer!)
Another take.. I regret selling some of my games in the past. Thry hold sentimental value and I ended up buying back some of them just to have them.
Some of these you can sell for a nice price. Battle for Middle Earth for example is not available online bc ea lost the license and gets sold easily for 50-80 EURO iirc.
these are not ‘old’ enough, you could probably sell it as a whole bundle for a few 10s of euro’s on 2dehands etc.
Play them on a period correct computer (probably one that runs Windows Vista or something)
Online you might find collectors for this type of stuff. Same with flea markets.
Though since it’s PC games and not console games the value of this will be low. Lots of PC games require online activations and have a one-time-only activation code – which basically means reselling is pointless.
I do buy these at thrift stores, at 10ç/p, just for collecting.
