All part of the Tory plan to run the councils into the ground and privatise them.
So everytime the Tories make an announcement about a policy, the truth comes out later that it wasn’t possible or was a complete lie. By which time they are coming out with their next announcement or distraction!
I’m skeptical of “levelling up” projects that involve spending alot of money on making something look fancy or new, but with no plan on how it will actually improve the economic circumstances of the people living there.
I.e projects to regenerate high streets, but the local people still have the same disposable income they did as before, and although the high street now looks really fancy with some interesting public artworks and all maintenance issues fixed, the people don’t really have any extra money to spend any more at that high street than they did before and lofty claims from consultants that the regeneration would somehow attract people from far away to spend money there do not materialise into any noticeable increase in revenues or footfall.
