I hate to criticise projects like this, as they are sorely needed, but seeing the photo in the article made me think this will not be a nice place to live in a few years time with so many people crammed in together. Why did they have to build what is essentially an alleyway in between the buildings? Are they not aware that groups of youths will just congregate in these areas making it unpleasant for the majority of residents? I’ve seen estates back in my home country that started off very positively like this, but after some years the shine wears off and they become antisocial hotspots. I don’t think Luxembourg is immune to this issue either.
Complaining old fart, over and out.

Sorry, I don’t understand your point. How different is that from any residential street?
OP, your experience from your home country might not apply to Luxembourg due to various reasons.
Where are you from?

What a bunch of backwards bullshit. We literally have such an (old) alleyway between building as a shortcut here in Bereldange. It’s crowded by grandmas walking the dogs along with other residents using it as usual. There should be more of these everywhere.
Rent will be way too expensive anyway

How will people get to their homes without them? Are they supposed to parkour from roof to roof and up/down balconies until they have reached their place? Elmen is built with the intention of having no cars. If they built large boulevards, then people would find ways to still drive on those.
BTW there are going to be more and more places that will be built without direct car access to your home. All the new public projects on Kirchberg aim to have 1 car per 2 households (which boils down to having one parking spot for roughly every 5 residents). On Limpertsberg, they already have a car-less neighbourhood (people living there can’t even get a vignette from the city)
Are you from Glasgow?
Looks like a container village to me…
Did you even read what was the “vision” behind that project? There are no streets for cars (they need to be parked outside of the complex).
