Germany Faces Record Shortage of Affordable Housing

  2. No wonder after accommodating 1.4m refugees from Ukraine last year and 1.1m refugees from Syria, Afghanistan, and other countries couple of years ago.

  3. Currently trying to get a flat in the Frankfurt area and it’s almost impossible. Your chances of getting one are less than 1%.

  4. nothing will change…There’s no incentive to build affordable housing.

    People are living longer, and corporations are buying them up buildings and pricing apartments beyond reach of normal people.

  5. No it does not. Germany is not meant to provide housing for people from all over the world. At some point you have to accept Germany is not working out for you

  6. It’s not surprising at all if you consider the recent increase in interest rates combined with higher prices for raw materials. It was bad prior to the war but it has just gotten worse.
