My girlfriend and I are considering hiking the around the Lysefjorden (the “[Lysefjorden Rundt](https://lysefjorden365.com/lysefjordenrundt/)”) this summer in about a week, either going from hut to hut or by pitching our tent. We’d like to hike the route counterclockwise, but we’re not quite sure what would be the most efficient way to get to the start of the route (Vinddalen) from Stavanger.

We’ve looked into the ferry from Stavanger to Tau but can’t seem to find any info on public transport heading south from there. Are we overlooking something or is a taxi the only alternative? Renting a car just to have it parked at the start of the trail for a week is not a viable option. We’re very keen to hear everyone’s experience with with getting to the start of the trail!

Also, please feel free to share any other recommendations in respect of our plan – very keen to hear from you all!

  1. There is a bus to Øvre Espedal, from Forsand ferry dock. Kolumbus(bus company) route 122, it seems. But from there there’s nothing, there is nothing up in Vinddalen, after all, and the road is a dead end. That gets you pretty close, and there is a guest house of sorts by the bus stop that you could contact and ask about transportation up the valley. Øvre Espedal Grendehus.
