The Turkish government has restricted Twitter so that its own inadequacies are not known by the people. People in the earthquake area cannot communicate

  1. I’m sorry, but down here.. in East ( South ) Europe, I don’t think we use twitter as the main social platform.

  2. The thing is; people were posting their whereabouts under the collapsed buildings on Twitter and influencers were directing the rescue operators to the location. So what they doing is killing those poor people by silencing them. Letting them freeze to death under the rubbles.

  3. This is significant because people have been trying to coordinate rescue and aid needs and resources over social media.

It’s possible to access Twitter over VPN, but many are concerned about the increased battery consumption, since it’s not easy to charge devices right now.

  4. They disregard all comment made against them. One AKP mayor pretended not to hear “Where is the government?” comment made by people who are just recently started to get aid.

  5. Fucking awful awful awful. All my feed was full of addresses and help cries. It suddenly stopped. People were organising there. How can someone do this. I cannot believe this.

  6. ..and they bombing north-syria right now.. can we finally put erdogan on the same podest as Putin, thanks.

  7. Oh man, looks like we really lost Turkey to the tyrants. No way they will have something even remotely close to a fair election this year…

  8. “we’ve had vicious kings and we’ve had idiot kings, but i don’t know if we’ve ever been cursed with a vicious idiot for a king.”

  9. This is exactly what I would expect them to do. This is terrible. Turkey has high percentage of twitter usage and the other type of media is censored.

  10. Can someone explain why the Turkish Armed Forces are not on the ground? I would imagine that they have all the manpower, equipment and logistics to do rescue operations?

  11. He’s willing thousands to die just to protect his votes…

If there wasn’t a definition of treason this would’ve been the one.

  12. I would not be surprised if more Erdogan-leaning areas will receive more and faster help while “unfriendly” districts are left to their own devices. It’s classic dictator’s handbook stuff.

  13. Hey, i bet someone there said something bad about Erdogan. Why concentrate on the displaced, the wounded and the dead when there are Tears in their Masters Eyes.

  14. That Reminds me ,when is Turkey due for their next election?

What are the leaders of the other parties doing right now?

Because the ability to act in emergencies can reveal a lot about a person…

  15. Thanks to everyone who helped. EVEN GREECE IS HELPING BUT STILL THE GOVERNMENT IS KILLING US. Because he will lose votes. God, even our enemy is that good as good as Greece. long live peace

  16. Well, I agree this is awful, but aren’t there other ways to communicate rather than Twitter? If the answer is no, then we really need some better social media infrastructure. Elon musk cannot own the only app capable of helping people in a problem.

  17. 200k is very optimistic number guys. 10 cities affected by earthquake and we are talking about millions. 🙁 and our dicta restricted twitter which was the best communication channel between rescue teams and earthquake victims. People were tweeting under the buildings but now we don’t hear their voice. They were officially abandoned 🙁

  18. Banning twitter is a clear sign of corruption and contempt for freedom of information. Erdogan is a cretin and has mismanaged his country for years. There appears to be zero preparation and no enforcement of appropriate building regulations and measures for a earthquake zone

  19. Could the way Derpogan handles this crisis affect his viability as President going forward?

I am guessing he has plenty of subordinates willing to fall on their swords to save this guys hide

  20. When it comes time to show face it always surprises me how ruthless these “strongman” leaders really are. So many people dead, dying, injured, in distress and he only cares about staying in power.

  21. Dictator Erdogan lost his mind.
    Twitter = Free Speech
Restricting Twitter is like restricting one of the most fundamental human rights.
Turkish people are lovely and they deserve better more democratic government

  22. So there are earthquakes that ruins homes and lives, killing, maiming and destroying. Then we have the aftershocks, same thing basically but you get it. And then after this horrific chain of events and suffering, Erdrogan walks in and proves that this tragic natural event is not the worst part of it!

I somehow laugh at his antics concerning the NATO stuff because it’s simply so damn silly. But this is nothing short of horrific. He is holding his own people hostage and torturing them. LITERALLY
