I’ve created a new rendering of the Dublin City coat of arms for Wikipedia using a historic illustration as the basis. I’m hoping it looks more serious than the previous flat, clipart-style one (Swipe to compare the two versions).

  1. The Latin phrase translates to “Obedience of the citizens of the city”, what’s that all about?

  2. I’d recommend tweaking or layering traces of different thresholds to get better definition around the eyes and such. I can tell straight away the methods used to get the lines down.

The hair of the right lady in particular.

Anyway, looks cool! We have lots of this kind of artwork lacking and in that shitty clip-art style as you put it.
