Road hauliers warn EU against green taxes without clean alternatives

  1. Nobody ever thinks of supply chain with these moves and it’s infuriating as inflation is going to kick the working man hard while he’s down.

  2. A few months ago the Irish Green Party got peat fuel production banned in Ireland… now peat is imported from Lithuania, more than 2,000 kilometres away, b/c somehow that’s ‘greener’ than the less than 200 kilometres from within Ireland.
It’s like politicians pushing ‘green’ policies have no clue how the world works…

  3. The alternative is train. Road transport get massive indirect subsidies, they don’t pay the true cost to repair the road.

In a perfect world all long haul road transport shoud be eliminated. Only regional truck should exist. Electric truck are already a credible alternative for those cases.
