Following. I’ve started to receive them as well this week. Always (supposedly) French and German numbers.
Oddly enough, they only ring once, so not long enough to actually answer (not that I would anyway), which makes me wonder if this is some sort of scam involving premium numbers where you get charged as soon as you call them back?
After a while you might have to do this again. If memory serves me right then you are on the list for like 3 years before having to put yourself on the list again (but I could be misremembering or things may have changed).
Edit: Obviously this is not something scammers will take into account. I don’t know how to solve that other than blocking the caller numbers or changing your own number.

Get the Orange Phone app and don’t forget to setup it properly

Edit: Would be great for people who downvote to argue why they disagree, because i used to get a shit load of call from spam and scams (wich are not blocked if you blacklist your number) in the morning or afternoon while i was sleeping (nightshift worker) and since my coworker recommended me the app, it didn’t not let through a single call, sometime blocking 3 call a day.
It’s been like a year i downloaded it and it’s been a real savior for my sleep, i can’t really put my phone on silent because my work must be able to join me.
Your phone’s default calling app might have a built-in block functionality. ([This one’s mine](https://i.imgur.com/wNBkYK6.jpg) from my Oneplus).
If it doesn’t you can chance your default calling app to a third party app that supports blocking, [like TrueCaller](https://i.imgur.com/lH0jlfh.jpg). You could for example set it up so that you block calls from +49 country code, or only accept calls from Belgian numbers.
I work with a whitelist. Basically nobody can call me except my contacts. If it’s something official they’ll send a letter.

Settings, block unknown numbers and/or numbers you haven’t saved as a contact.
Alternatively get an app that filters out spam.
My Orange app does it for me.
Phone -> 3 dots -> Settings -> Caller ID and Spam Protection enable
Not sure if it’s the same for all Androids, but once I enabled that for my Samsung I get bothered a lot less. And looking at my call history it’s blocking at least once a week still. Used to be multiple times a day in the past.
Never ever give your real phone number online when registering for something, not even at a web shop and certainly not on social media. Use 2FA using an authenticator app, not via SMS. If you have to enter a phone number when ordering something, just enter +32 498 12 34 56. They won’t ever call you anyways but the chances of them leaking (or selling) your private info is much higher. In spring of 2021 there was a huge Facebook leak with over 500 000 000 peoples accounts, including mobile phone numbers. They can be found on the internet with a 3 min google search so very accessible for scammers.
For now though, try to distinguish between real valid calls and foreign scam calls. Ignore the scammers. Do not answer them. Even if you pick up the phone to shout at them they know this number is still being actively used.
You can also configure your iPhone to send unknown callers directly to voicemail but as you can probably guess this has a disadvantage of potentially missing important phone calls too.
Block the numbers one by one and whatever you do, don’t anwser.
If you do, it’ll only get worse.
Usually they give up within the span of a few days if they can’t get you to pick up.
Please be careful when handing out personal info online.
Maybe ex wives?
This may be controversial, but if you’re able to pick up and you hear a certain accent (Indian) you can be a bit of a racist and reply with said accent. Chances are they’ll be insulted and disconnect themselves.
That way you can have some fun?
Unironically the way to prevent spam calls is to just straight up refuse to give your phone number to any signup form or loyalty card program at any store and on any website. Everyone always promises to not give your information away until they have a database leak.
People in physical stores will roll their eyes at you, and some online signups will fail without a phone number, but at least you won’t get spam calls.
Once you start getting these calls I’m not really sure what you can realistically do to prevent them without something drastic like completely blocking all unknown phonenumbers.
Stop giving out your e-mail, personal information, phonenumbers on surveys , hln accounts and all other forms. Start with using different e-mail addresses for these things. Use one email for official stuff and the others for public use. In Belgium the telenet user data is sold in bulk on telegram. Usernames, passwords, phonenumbers all available for scammers and phishers. If a dutch phishers want to target Belgian people. Easiest way is using [telenet.be](https://telenet.be) addresses.
Get a prepaid SIM card and give out that number every time some service requests your phone number. Don’t actually use that SIM card in your phone. Oopsie.
I don’t pick up numbers I don’t have saved. If it is something important they will leave a voicemail.
And I have do not disturb on for all numbers except my started contacts.
I will look up a number sometimes, if google shows no business connected I block.

My wife did this and no longer receives calls.
