Old meme I made back when I lived in Basel

  1. Idk why, but it’s cheaper for me to roam international in Europe on my USA-based plan than it is to just get a Swiss-based plan lol

  2. Settings –> Connections –> Mobile Networks –> Carriers –> Switch to manual selection and choose Swisscom/
    Salt/Whatever

I don’t live close to either border, but that should work, right?

  3. I live in Ravensburg Germany (20km north of lake constanze). Our Badi the Flappach Bad lies in a little valley surrounded by woods. For years the german mobile network there was so bad that your Natel logged in to the swiss networks (i guess their networks where stronger and higher located..)

  4. In the library of the university of Lausanne, it happens too. so annoying when I would take a break or go to the toilet, I always need 10 minutes to get back on the Swiss network

  5. Lmao I once received a bill of 260CH after my phone accidentally connected to German’s network. I was near the three countires bridge.

  6. So relatable. I get the roaming sms all the time when i visit somebody in Allschwil or Riehen lol.

  7. Whenever I go over the Swiss/German border my phone usually welcomes me to France. I find it hilarious honestly

  8. I worked near Lange Erlen / Wiese. But live further away from the border. So everyday I went to work my phone switched to Telekom (D) but only gave me E+ reception. When I manually chose Sunrise I got 4G, but when going back home I needed to turn on automatic network-chosing again so I don’t loose reception on the countryside.

  9. True facts. I live in Basel and my phone sometimes likes to send me text messages accusing me of being in Germany and France simultaneously, or within seconds of one another.

Technically, of course, I have often been in Basel, Germany and France within the span of not many seconds. But more often than that my phone just needs to calm down with its international roaming,
