Just Stop Oil activist who ran on to British Grand Prix track said protesters were acting ‘in love’

  1. We’ve missed 1.5, we’re going to miss 2.0, and almost certainly missing 3.0 too, but no one wants to hear it if it means any disruption at all to business as usual as the fossil fuel industry sucks record profits out of our bank accounts, the planet and our future. While we are distracted by Gregg’s, circuses and the grim reality of our boring dystopia, our politicians, their lobbyists and their donors cheer “Growth! Growth! Growth!” from the corporate boxes.

  2. >’would never take part in something that could hurt anyone – none of us could.’

    >’Intending to cause a risk of serious harm was the furthest thing from their minds. They knew the line of the track the cars take. They knew they would not be on the side of the track they would be on.’

    >’He said the crown’s case “simply does not come close to proving they had created a risk of harm or that a section of public was at risk’

This was at the same race where Zhou Guanyu was spun, flipped and crashed into the fence leaving him trapped inside the car.

Stone wall guilty and that lawyer is a moron.

  3. I have only two names for these protesters. Tom Pryce and Frederik Jansen van Vuuren.

Vuuren was a 19 year old marshal crossing the track to combat a vehicle fire during the 1977 South African grand prix. He was hit by Pryce in a freak accident at 170mph. Vuuren was killed on impact, leaving his body mutilated beyond recognition. The fire extinguisher he was carrying struck Pryce in the head. Despite wearing a full head covering helmet, Pryce was killed by the impact (I implore anyone with a weak stomach to not look for videos of the crash, its horrific)

2 young men were killed in a complete accident. Pryce was a professional racing driver, and had no time to stop or avoid Vuuren when he was on the track. There are several of those protesters sat there. And this was during lap 1. If the race was not red flagged, not only would they have been putting themselves at risk, but also whichever marshals who were trying to remove them, and any driver who would have been leading the race (Carlos Sainz P1, Max Verstappen P2 and Charles Leclerc P3)

This could have been a horrific crash, and one of the deadliest in modern times had an accident happened. Their actions were dangerous, selfish and stupid. I can understand their motives, but the actions of these protesters in general has made me lose my respect for all involved

  4. I know they have a good cause. But this is possibly the most stupid thing they could’ve ever done. If it wasn’t for Zhou’s incident at the start of the race, there could’ve been multiple casualties. Drivers and protestors. This is just unbelievably stupid and cocky to do

  5. Absolute idiots, they didn’t just risk their own lives, but the lives of others too. It could have been so much worse. No sympathy for them whatsoever.

  6. The punishment for this should be a £100k fine, each person

This could have killed people had their not been a red flag

  7. Get a snow plough and tell them if the don’t move they’ve be forced aside.. or squished.

    Half time entertainment anyone?
