Ben Weyts torpedoed his own career thanks to alcohol, so hooray for alcohol?
These people are adults. Can we not just expect them to act like adults?
Fine after working hours. Not during.
But isn´t that obvious?
It probably should be prohibited from the coffee-room.
And if they go get drunk at the bars across the street then that’s their problem. Just get a few people make social media videos on MPs getting drunk across the street and smear them across the internet. Also a form of ‘social control’ (and De Croo makes it sound incredibly condescending towards MPs).
God forbid they do their job and respect it enough to stay sober.
Yes.
TIL that alcohol is allowed in parliament…
They are at work. At *work*.
I’m i that wrong to expect from people that decide about millions of euro’s and millions of people’s their everyday lives, that they remain sober whilst doing that?
For fuck’s sake, it’s video only.
Yes. Duh.
How is this even a question?
Nobody is asking “Should alcohol be prohibited in the office space?” Are they?
Yes. I thought they would have already banned it after Daerden was intoxicated 24/7. But then again, that would mean a politician was ever made responsible for his mistakes and we don’t do that over here.

Kinda absurd that in any other job you’d get sacked for drinking, but when it comes to leading the country, suddenly it’s not an issue…
/s
Wie the fuck drinkt er nu tijdens z’n werkuren, gulle foking marginale klootzakke
I’m actually amazed that it isn’t already prohibited. Every place I worked at in my life had a strict no alcohol policy. Even when I worked as a waiter in my student days, we obviously served alcohol but the employees couldn’t drink a drop.
Yes.
You mean to say it isn’t already? Also, we really have to put this in writing?
Obviously.
But I don’t see it changing as politicians only like rules applying to citizens, not to themselves.
Well, I would say that it should not be allowed to be a regular thing at a place of work.
Only a political elite can be so obviously blind in favour for their own rights.
I hope the young politicians, that are not afraid of change, can get this through parliament.
The cheapest bar in London is within the House’s of Parliament.
Politicians should be prohibited in parliament

politicians showing up drunk on the job should get fired instantly.
if they rather go to work drunk/high they should’ve applied @ the Antwerpse haven.
