This guy fought in WW1 as a volunteer, lost his arm in the conflict, was awarded an Iron Cross, and nevertheless was thrown to rot as a traitor in a concentration camp by the very nation he fought for just 20 years earlier. What a disgrace.
But he didnt found it? Karl Höltermann did, and Otto Wels was the one who lead it. Far as I know Kurt Schumacher had little to do with them. He wouldn’t be important until a fair bit later in the SPD.
True life will.
> social~~ist~~ welfare politics
Must have been written by a person that cannot differentiate between social and socialist. And that never heard about Social Market Economy.
Papen xD
It’s so sad that the SPD went from this, to the SPD we have now, it’s really sad to no longer have a real social democratic party in Germany
SPD
Social democrat. I think English as a language does not do well with this concept because this political party didn’t gain a lot of traction in the english speaking countries. But it is a massive difference. Calling these guys Socialists is not really correct. The UDSSR was Socialist.
Well he is not wrong, the Soviet union was like Germany fighting a mirror
