Does anyone know where this photo was taken?

  1. For context, my girlfriend grew up in Stavanger, and hasn’t been back to Norway since she was young. We will be traveling there in July and would love to stop by this place if we can locate it. She was only with her parents – one of whom has passed away, while the other has severe dementia, so no luck there.

I know it’s a long shot since the picture quality is not great, but it would be hugely appreciated if anyone is able to identify it.

    Thank you!

Edit: mystery solved! Thank you/u/julebruz for identifying and /r/kvitebjorn1 for confirming

  2. My guess is Preikestolen, just an hour drive away from stavanger, i have a few pictures from there and the contours of the mountains in the background seems to match. The picture seems to be taken from the “stol”, the fjord down on her right side, as you see the group of people walking along the ledge in the background.

Might be Sirdal tough, but for me the mountains in the background seemed familiar to Preikestolen 😊

  3. Could it be Dalsnuten?

Dalsnuten is located in Sandnes, the town ‘next’ to Stavanger (Stavanger and Sandnes mesh into each other. It’s about a 15/20 minute drive from one centre to the other). This is a spot locals often take their kids, as the hike up is easy and has a view over Gandsfjorden.

If it is, the picture would be taken with the fjord behind the person taking the photo

Photo #7 is what the view behind her reminds me of
