Arrival a week after the earthquake… the “FAST” part of the name is becoming vaguely ridiculous. It’s disgraceful what budget cuts, lack of priority and administrative complexity have done to B-FAST. Belgium really pioneered multidisciplinary disaster response with the original B-FAST, and we’ve completely hollowed out that capability. A crying shame.

  1. Nederland heeft gisterenochtend beslist om te gaan en gisterenavond zijn ze vertrokken.

Zo illustrerend voor wat er allemaal mis is aan België.

  2. the biggest mistake is keeping the B-FAST brand, that early 2000’s had a very good reputation and expertise. For some political reason they reworked the services, (i.e. no more search and rescue) but kept the name.

If they would it rename B-MED and explain that we specialize in the phase after the “search and rescue” i.e. trying to keep the people alive and prevent diseases like cholera, it would sound much more logical and useful.

Now it sound like we gonna send search teams after a week.

  3. Now, all this criticism on the response time of this team is really uncalled for.

They are fully prepared and ready to react on the heat death of the universe.
