Are these things a gimmick or do they actually give you energy similar to an energy drink etc

  1. If you take a look on sugarfree energy drinks, you will find that this bar gives loads more energy than sugarfree energy drinks.

(When it comes to sugared drinks, bar is still better because it has fat and some fibre, wich is more lasting than pure carbs.)

Heck, even milk has more and better energy than most energy drinks.

  2. Energy drinks are basically caffeine sodas. They give you caffeine, which helps you keep awake. There’s also sugar, which gives you a short-time energy boost as well.

New Energy is a chocolate bar that, at the time it was released, was marketed as sort of an alternative to sports drinks, I guess. It’s sugar and fat, so it will give you a boost in energy. Won’t help you keep awake, but if you’ve been running around all day and feel exhausted due to not having eaten, it will give you a quick pick-me-up.

But so will any chocolate. :-p

  3. It depends on what you mean by “energy” tbf.

If you like stimulants like caffeine, then this does not provide.

If you like easily transferred calories like maltodextrine, this will do its thing.

“energy drinks” do not really give you the fuel for the energy, they just start the process in your body, and/or just use stimulants to make you feel better.

This chocolate is in my top 5, but I prefer coffee for stimulants. (preferrably with some caramel chocolate on the side for instant energy)

  4. Eat a light meal about 1h before. Bring a sandwich, banana and something hot to drink. Cheaper and better.
