No surprise. Plenty of leeches come out of the woodwork when the taxpayer foots the bill…
The price paid during a global shortage is in no way comparable to what someone selling a case on ebay may get for it.
Remember manufacturers were selling to the highest bidder and cancelling confirmed orders if they could get a better price, you were only confident you had stocks once it was in your warehouse. It was a bun fight to get what you could by placing multiple orders and seeing what arrived.
One thing the article doesn’t cover is where that case came from. Was it excess stock the importer was left with after they’d fulfilled their contract, is it the NHS selling off unneeded items, has someone stolen it from stores, did the manufacturer make more cases using the same box label which were sold elsewhere or some other source.
I mean, what point are they making. Had they sold it during the shortage then they would have got lots more – it is what it is, times change and supply and demand has changed.
If you buy something at a time of scarcity and sell it at times of surplus then you’re never going to win financially, but with PPE there was good reason it was scarce and good reason to buy at those prices.
Really can’t stand articles like these
“Thing bought during global supply crisis worth less now there’s less of a supply crisis”.
Of course, of course. At this point, it’s not even worth a for fuck’s sake. Just another tut and add it to the pile of scandals. Someone really made a massive killing and then took the piss to get rid of it.
Don’t forget the latest bollocks, Dyson air filtration that even Which put a “Do not buy” note on.
Was this because demand pushed up prices so high? Or just a scam?
