I have visited Lithuania several times (the most recent being in 2019), and from what I have heard on [ACEA](https://www.acea.auto/figure/average-age-of-eu-vehicle-fleet-by-country/), Lithuania has the oldest car fleet in the European Union, at 17 years. With that said, I am curious what types of cars are common in Lithuania, and for cars over 20 years old, what is common (e.g. VW Golf, VW Polo, Skoda Octavia, Skoda Fabia, Peugeot 206, Citroen C3, Renault Clio, BMW 1er, Mercedes Benz A-Klasse, Audi A1, Audi A3, etc.).

German ones are the most popular, in particular VAG group. There is a lot junked, exported cars that is unregistered though.
Since most of the cars a while ago were imported from Germany, most of Germany brands dominates the market (BMW, Audi, VW, Opel). Most of them – reliable, diesel powered engine cars (i.e. 3 liter BMW, 1.9 liter VW Golf ect.) that could easily reach even a one million km with same engine.
Bmw is very common amongst younger drivers, particularly 5 series e39, e6X, 3 series e46, e9X, or 1 series e87. In more rural regions, people drive older cars such as Vag mk4 and mk5 families (golf, bora, jetta, a3), b5/6 passat, a4, lots of older audis, such as c4, c5 a6, also mk1-2 sharan, galaxy and alhambra, opel vectra, astra, etc. so mostly german cars. Toyota is more popular in cities and since it has a huge model range, people buy what fits them, so yaris, auris, avensis, rav4 and so on, but as well as other brands like nissan, mitsubishi, seat, kia and the rest.
Cherry on top is mk2-mk3 prius. If you sont see one, then youre not in lithuania. Most popular amongst food delivery drivers and taxi/transportation services. Just to add, the price of priuses tripled since the wolt/bolt/taxi boom.
Over 20 years old most popular brands must be VW, AUDI, Opel, BMW, Volvo.
Passat is more popular than Golf, Zafira is (most probably) more popular than Astra. Audi A4, A6, Volvo V70 are up in the tops among older than 20 year cars, too. Maybe some Toyota Avensis, VW Sharan as well.
Older cars tends to be bigger (there is a stereotype that small cars don’t live that long, also price difference for old car is not that significant, so people choose bigger, higher class old car over maybe a little younger small/budget car).
My car is older than me 3years, im 20
What’s faster than the wind? A Lithuanian in a stolen Mercedes?
Most popular TOyoTA PRIUS
I have 19 year old Honda Accord and love it. I live in capital city, so older cars are not that common, but out of them, this model seems to be common.
