  1. Sorry to have to use a S*n article – the Telegraph is reporting the same information from officers, but the subs is blocking it due to pay wall.

  2. Wasn’t there a lot of comments on this sub scolding people for saying this is what likely happened. Instead insisting a gas leak was just a probable

  3. Awful, that poor child and woman. So sad to read that she called a family member before it happened.

Why on earth did he have a gun licence? What was the reasoning there?

  4. Fucking despise people who do this. Complete self important psychopaths.

Hope he gets no-one at his funeral and his ashes chucked in the bin.

  5. I fucking hate when stuff like this happens and then they post a photo of them all as happy families, it’s completely disrespectful to the victims.

  6. i’m okay with people off’ing themselves, up to them. but why take others with you forcefully. its murder. if there is judgement after death, i hope this guy gets the full weight.

  7. This isn’t that different to another murder suicide we heard of and maybe another, in the uk, well off people who have high pressure jobs, nice houses but big mortgage, who fall into financial difficulty and can’t accept the idea of losing everything, as in house, career, status, so take their own family. I know..how can you kill your child. Because they’re everything to you in the life that you’ve built, you’re in fatalistic destructive mode, maybe if you want claiming power and control as you feel like you’ve lost it. People spend their lives on a course, every minute being being different people to suits others needs.

The father here runs an accountancy firm. I’d think the same thing, high pressure job, in debt, or financial difficulty, can’t accept losing it all. People on low income don’t do these murder suicides, they’re always people with wealth and status where they’re in fear of it coming down and being exposed.

  8. More sad details now coming out.

The Times is reporting that Emma Pattison had called a relative on Saturday night over concerns about her husband, and they had arrived to find all three were dead.

  9. So American here (live in the uk now) this is precisely why you shouldn’t keep guns in the home, ever. You are far, far more likely to harm yourself or others than you are to defend your home. So fucking sad

  10. Very selfish actions. My instinct told me this was most likely what happened, along with an accidental tragedy like carbon monoxide poisoning. Sad that instinct was right

  11. this is what we suspected from the start. a sad story all round. i feel like he could have at least let the child survive. or run away and leave them to start a new life? anything is better than this.

  12. I can’t stand hearing stories about someone hurting a child, especially their own. They’re just so innocent, and they look to us for protection and to break that… I just can’t comprehend it

  13. This is so sad. She taught at my secondary school for some years when I was there and I had thought she looked familiar when I saw her on the news. 🙁

  14. As a guy myself, I gotta admit such family murder-suicides are carried out by the man 99% of the times. I think it’s the “traditional” way of being brought up. I thankfully have never experienced it myself but somehow a guy pursues a woman with gallantry, humor, gentleness and then somehow she becomes his property.

In most cases, it manifests itself in extreme jealosy, then trying to track her movements, then controlling her movements, then the first slap, followed by slobbering promises it will never happen again. Next time, maybe a punch, but gets worse and worse until she winds up in hospital or calling 911.

From that weird view he owns his wife, the craziest determine if he can’t have her, no one can, and probably kills children first to bring worst ever pain to woman.

  15. I knew her, in passing, having met her a couple of times. She was absolutely lovely.

Everyone who knew her better than I did is quite shocked. Clearly nobody saw anything like this coming.

  16. How much more of this toxic controlling misogynostic crap can women take? Every day some guy is murdering his whole family because he lost control .. thats it ..looking at the women who kill their kids a lot of the pattern seems to be either post natal psychosis or just evil. But men kill their whole families???

  17. It’s interesting to me that in this thread everyone is like “how can you harm a child” yet in anothre thread from this subreddit everyon is like “why should my taxes pay for poor peoples children”

  18. I obviously have all of the sympathy for the victims, but I just don’t know what either surviving family members and friends do with this. Imagine getting a phone call finding out your son and Granddaughter has died and your son was the person who killed her.

  19. Probably jealousy, she was a successful woman, recently made first female head of Epson college and widly respected at her previous job. Got lots of podcast and radio interviews for the work she had done. he was just some accountant. Perhaps she may have even threatened to leave him. Bet he couldn’t handle being one-upped by his wife. What a snake.

  20. Called it as soon as the story ran, everyone they interviewed talked about how amazing the wife was and how lovely the daughter was, but they didn’t interview a single person about the husband or what he was like.

  21. Are we so used to violence against women that we don’t even care about the teacher?

So many comments are to the effect of “The wife I can understand, but the kid?” or “Couldn’t he at least let the kid live?”. They mean well, I’m sure, but I find it chilling.
