“I congratulate you warmly, also on behalf of my compatriots, on your election as President of the Czech Republic.
Relations between the Czech Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany are close and friendly. As neighbors, partners and friends, we work together for peace and security in Europe, as we did recently under the successful Czech Council Presidency. The Russian war of aggression against Ukraine shows more than ever how important cohesion is in the European Union and NATO. The Czech Republic and Germany are facing this situation together. Our countries join forces to support Ukraine and we work hand in hand for a strong EU and NATO.
I look forward to working with you and am firmly convinced that we can continue and deepen the close, trusting cooperation between our countries. I am looking forward to meeting you personally and I wish you a lot of strength and success in your responsible task.”
