The sentences are just never, ever enough for these types of attacks. These attacks end and ruin lives and they should be treated as attempts to end the victim’s life.
Where do these judges get off on such lenient sentences? Less than 2 years for an unprovoked attack that left a man for a dead and leaves him peremantly disabled. Disgusting.

Are British Judges secretly accelerationists? Do they just want to hand out the worst possible sentences for heinous crimes as much as possible that just makes the public so apathetic and say fuck it – “might as well kill someone in a car , rape or brutally assault someone cus what’s the worst that could happen?”.
Do we even properly rehabilitate these people in the first place?
Without half his skull sounds very pessimistic. I prefer to think of him having half his skull.
I guess they either didn’t charge him with intent or he’s slid in at the very lowest end of the sentencing scale despite obviously hitting into the top category for severity. Seems ridiculously light with damage that severe either way.

So, maybe this is totally normal, but I did wonder what on earth this guy may have said in his defence that might justify whatever crazy leniency went on so I did a bit of a search to see if I could find any more information. Am I right to consider it strange that the only place I can see this mentioned is [itv.com](https://itv.com) and one twitter post from the itv’s twitter that links back to this article?
I’m not going fully on conspiracy nut here, but it just seems odd. You’d think it would show up at least in a local paper somewhere. Do ITV use their own aliases for people or something? I only searched the names.
I mean, honestly I was entirely expecting to read more details and conclude that the leniency is even more ridiculous than I thought, it’s just weird that there’s nothing…
An appallingly light sentence. The victim should contest it. He could have died from brain injury.

He’ll be out in a week thanks to yet another mistake by the parole board.
Where’s the mental health act? Does a normal sane person inflict such injuries in an unprovoked attack?
