Are they doing this in purpose? I have never come across anything like this. Mostly just people really badly park. Like not straight or too close to one side of the spot. But not deliberately taking 2 spots.

These are mostly young parents with big, expensive cars (or as you can tell, some have just normal family cars) with young children that aren’t well behaved enough, so the parents don’t trust them not to slam the door against the neighbouring car/column.
The worst offender I saw was at Cactus Ingeldorf a while ago: a Mercedes-Benz Q3 (big expensive SUV) using 4 parking spots…
Apparently you are not a frequent visitor of Cactus Ingeldorf… Every time I shop there I see at least 3-5 cars parked on more than 1 spot…
If it’s an empty day as it seems here IMO this really doesn’t matter …but yeah I wouldn’t really do it

I agree it’s annoying to have someone park like that. However, in 27 years of driving all over the world, I’ve never had more scratches or dents than here in Luxembourg. Sorry to say so. BUT, I’m not saying it’s Luxembourgers, my guess would be those with white plates and black or red numbers. 🤷♂️😊

To be fair, the parking spaces at Cactus Ingeldorf are criminally small. It’s almost impossibe to fit three cars between those pillars without struggling when trying to get out. That’s why I always park in front. Those spaces are great.
Living in Luxembourg for 31 years, never actually saw that.

or the have a baby maxicosi and are sick and tired of ppl who dont leave space for them to take out their child! thats why i park like that sometimes, just in case

In their defense, a lot of cactus visitors especially on a sunday morning around this time up until noon in ingeldorf are elderly people that will inevitably hit your car with their door…
If there are enough free spaces I don’t see the problem with parking like that especially if it’s for a short time.
Apparently you are not aware of the law that if xou have a car over 100k your are legally allowed to use 2 parking spaces
Honestly as long as most of the spaces are not taken I don’t see a big problem with taking two spots if you value your car. It’s kinda impossible to fit 3 normal sized cars between the two pillars and that’s why I usually park outside because the parking spaces are much bigger.
Some people have just 0 respect for other people’s property and that’s how you get dents or scratches that cost easily over 1k €. What usually happens is that people park in the middle spot between the pillars and “checkmate” the other two spots next to it. Only insane people would try to park next to that car because who wants to risk scratching the other car when exiting.
I don’t understand why they don’t build the parking spots bigger.
