Racism and discrimination remain issues for many Swiss

  1. IMO there are more xenophobia than racism in Switzerland.

    > Just under one-third of people also say they have been the victims of discrimination and violence based on their background or appearance

Both discrimination AND violence to check the box? not clear.

What’s background mean? immigration background? jobs background?

What’s appearance mean? Like discrimination for a job because they were wearing a pyjamas at the interview?

They should quote the questions asked to the participants to avoid any confusion.

  2. Brace yourself for all the white 30+ dudes who will explain in the comments that it’s really not that bad and that they never experienced racist situations in Switzerland.

  3. Another BS article using some US philosophy to apply to Europe.

The US, who noticeably did have slavery and slave trades and where racism is indeed an institutional problem. Where everyone goes against everyone.

And then their “philosophers” want to cure that with what? More division among Europeans? We have a different history, we have a different way to do things. And somehow, we know how to handle racism much better than them. Why they just don’t copy our success instead?

  4. i don’t know, but as a biracial man, i got randomly stopped police as well as on cops in street clothes pulling up on me while i was on the train, asking to see my I.D. I know it’s because i don’t look white and they want to profile me. you never get stopped by police randomly like that. (i was born and raised in the U.S)

i felt violated and every time i’d see cop cars pass or cops in uniforms walked by me, i always felt guilty of something even though i never did anything. that’s how bad the profiling was. til it got to my head.
