They are such a bunch of fascist bully-boys. Most Tory mp’s now completely corrupted and in a state of taking what they can before their ship goes down.
A year without income tax for rich baby boomers? Fuck right off
So too sick to work you get an interview from the goon squad but if you are well off enough to not need to work you get extra money ? Aye that makes perfect fucking sense.
This is prime tory nastiness. Rather than accept they need immigrants to fill job vacancies they would prefer to target disabled people too sick to work.
Help those who want to work first like myself who are sick of always applying for hundreds of low paying jobs with poor security because it is all they get a chance for. Don’t push even more competition in my face, provide real training and opportunities instead of outsourcing it
I am afraid this would once again be a case of identifying the right problems but coming up with the wrong and counterproductive solutions, just like Truss with low growth. Good healthcare, education/reskilling, child/social care and transportation would get more people back into being more economically active and productive. A whip on ill people’s back and the threat of destitution, or bribing people who are well-off enough to retire won’t help.
So this means cracking down on economically inactive people… like tax dodgers.. right?
I wonder who will be the next group the tories will try and scapegoat.
>Broadly, Hunt is concerned about two camps: the over-50s who took early retirement during the pandemic
Very much all engineers I know over 50s who were running their consulting business either retired early after Rishi introduced IR35 changes (and Hunt kept them) to help Indian consultancies at the expense of British small business – or moved overseas.
When you create an environment hostile towards small business, don’t be surprised that people decide to withdraw.
Total incompetence.
The article conveniently ignores the fact that Labour were saying essentially the same things about a month ago.
I genuinely fear I’d break laws if they exempted the Gen X folk from income tax for a year…
The bottom income decile work fewer than 16 hours per week. The benefits system needs to be restructured so it doesn’t discourage work.
Focus on the underemployed and do what you can to upskill them. The issue facing our economy is not the disabled people living off a pittance, it is our poor wages and companies refusal to train people on the job. We would be in a far better position if those who could work were highly killed and able to compete on the international stage to a greater degree.
He wants to focus on the economically overactive tax avoiders. The one’s with so much money that they can pay people to fudge their tax.
I live in a tourist town. I know so many people cleaning holiday let’s for cash whilst claiming benefits it’s unreal. It pisses me off that these people make as much. However, I realise that I’m actually passed off with my stagnating wages and if I was actually paid what I was worth I wouldn’t be pissed off at all at them trying to make a few extra quid
Well, that’s just great. I reluctantly had to leave my last job because I’m too ill to work now and would much rather be earning because benefits pay fuck all.
All of the countries financial problems will be solved if corporations and billionaires were fairly taxed and not given dodgy contracts. But then the grass is green and sky is blue so…
