It’s not en route to any other larger cities, and therefore is rarely being visited. There’s a childish “fight” between Bydgoszcz and Toruń, a nearby town, very touristy and old. People tend to visit Toruń but not Bydgoszcz. So any meme, or random silliness become a thing in peoples minds as they don’t really know much about this city. That’s one explanation. There’s probably more, but ignorance is probablely the anwser.
Bydgoszcz have same reputation as Ohio in America. Nothing is happening there and everybody knows that, but its just funny to call it apocalyptic wasteland with population made out of cannibalistic tribes.
