Is it legal to have a floating house permanently docked in Switzerland?

  1. Probably more of a r/askswitzerland question.

Though I imagine that it will be dependent on local regulations and won’t come cheap.

  2. Art. 96 of the [Schweizerische Binnenschiffahrtsverordnung](https://www.fedlex.admin.ch/eli/cc/1979/337_337_337/de#art_96) says:

    > Schiffe, die nach ihrer Bau- oder Betriebsart überwiegend für Wohnzwecke bestimmt sind (z. B. Haus- oder Wohnboote), und amphibische Fahrzeuge sind nicht zugelassen.

(Vessels which, by virtue of their construction or mode of operation, are predominantly intended for residential purposes (e.g. houseboats or residential boats) and amphibious vehicles are not permitted.)

  3. It’s illegal but can be done. Depends more if your dock reports you. My dad and I used to stay in his boat parked in Villeneuve at the time, sometimes for weeks. No one gave a shit. Sometimes the dock guy would come drink with us.

  4. Iʼm visualizing to camp on a dropstitch platform for one night during the summer. This already requires some headache in stealth organization…

  5. I thought you wanted it for yourself, but no, you just want to rent them and pollute the docks and lake access for profit. No thanks.
