  1. I used to see the stars at night when i was a kid, now i can’t. I’m 25 tho not even that old. It is sad.

  2. This is sad, it’s just another effect of our disconnection from nature and sustainable living. I wish people would wake up and realize the rabbit hole they’re going down, but sadly I’m more and more convinced the path we’re on is irreversible.

  3. Well when i lived in Kyiv centre i barely could see stars regardless of night time but when i was moving to my summerhouse 20 km from Riga, it’s not perfect, but hell it’s 1000x better than even mid size city nightsky

  4. I can confirm, the night sky in Lapland is beautiful. I’ve been to Halti, Kebnekaise and many other parts of northern Scandinavia and Finland, and the amount of stars you see when compared to more inhabited regions in the south is staggering. Well, in the fall and winter at least. The problem with summer is the Midnight sun. The sun doesn’t set, so no stars are really visible.

I used to think the view from the porch of my childhood house was staggering, in a small village in Pirkanmaa, Finland, but it couldn’t even hold a candle to a clear winter night in Lapland.

  5. I really really wish so we can turn off all the lights for just one night in a year. It’d be glorious.

  6. I see more stars when i hold my breath to long then when it’s a night with clear skies… guess where I’m from

  7. when you travel to places with really dark skies it’s so sad going back to living in city where all you see is few dozen stars shining through the orange glow of light pollution. everything also seems overly illuminated like the lighting industry wanted to make as much money as they could from government contracts
