Inclusion.
Everyone is lumped into the same category.
Same criteria. Bigger pot.
More people end up being excluded.
This argument is so dumb. Next year could easily be reversed and I’m sure it would be hailed as a big win
All the women who were eligible for it were white. There are two black male artists nominated.
So you need to remove two of the white fellas and replace them with two women. You can’t remove the black artists because then everyone will complain that there is no diversity.
So you need to carefully choose a diverse group of men/women and people of colour.
Trouble with that is, it’s not really about music anymore.
OR
Go back to how it was before.
> The singer and songwriter described the category change as a “welcome and wonderful step” for recognising talent regardless of an artist’s gender.
>However, she continued: “If the Brits are meant to be accolades for all, how can we persist with a category that this year has excluded half of the population, women? I’m hoping it won’t be the case in 2024.”
Lol
Well it’s one way for someone to get some free exposure when they haven’t been relevant for 15 years I guess 🤷♂️
Winners and losers is so divisive, I’m sure they all did very well and deserve a hearty round of applause, followed by jelly and ice-cream and home in time for an afternoon nap.
Looking at the criteria for this category, apparently it is this.
*To be eligible, an artist must have achieved at least one top 40 album or two top 20 singles that were released between 10 December 2021 and 9 December 2022.*
No matter, who you are, if you don’t make the cut – then, I suppose you can’t be included?
This reminds me of using code to implement a change on a platform, you wind your way round all the bumps and changes and hours put in to deploy the change, and then realise that you’ve made the whole system worse as a result.
I’m pretty sure the “Music Industry” charts is basically run by teenage girls, isn’t it?
It’s nice to see people waking up to this trash equality nonsense and realising it’s just an extreme minority trying to remove men (particular white men) from everything. Fortunately, they only have influence over superfluous crap like this.
