Ruling classes of politicians and developers robbing the public blind. Ireland’s never gonna change.
Don’t worry, Bertie Ahern is back on the scene, so expect the number to way higher.
When has the state or it’s sub sections never paid over the odds

This should provoke a little thought amongst the folks who think that the state can take over all responsibility for building housing, if they can get it through their ideolgocial fact filter.
>For two-bedroom homes, the council construction costs of €514,000 were 23 per cent above the AHB average of €418,000 and 44 per cent above the Part V average €358,000.
>
>The council paid an average of €600,000 for the construction of three-bedroom apartments during this period.
600k for building an *apartment*, with no profit margin built in?? Madness.
But we were told on reddit that the state building houses directly would be cheaper and more efficient than buying off private developers?

The council doesn’t build social housing. This article is riddle with lies and half truths. The council purchase properties from the private sector. All due to eu regulations.
I am continuously amazed that those shouting loudest for a state run construction company also admonish the HSE for poor value for money.
The State isn’t exactly an efficient manager of resources. Layer in the lack of expertise and experience and I can’t imagine the cost relative to just buying from private developers.
Someone spending other peoples money wasn’t concerned about getting value for money?
I’m shocked, shocked I tell you! Well not that shocked…
And everyone wants to nationalise the construction sector?
This is not the state directly building like posters are implying – this is hiring contractors, in a massively inefficient tendering process.
An _actual_ large-scale program for direct building by the state doesn’t have these problems.
Money laundering!!
Has anyone looked into the cost of the Dominic Street Apartment scheme by DCC? €40m for 72 apartment units which excludes land cost. What the actual f*ck.
Children’s hospital, HSE, now house building…. When has government spending ever been efficient…?
This isn’t an irish problem. The entire military equipment procurement in us/uk/germany/eu is a joke.

I wonder does that raise house prices in general?
